Tom is a real artist. He removed the damaged y-shaped pipe and began cutting, welding, and assembling a new y-pipe. He finished the work in about 30 minutes. I waited in an adjacent room and was able to watch him work through a window in the door. He works by appointment only and only accepts cash and checks. He was friendly and professional.

All the 28 perfect reviews to date (7/30/17) that I read on Google did not exaggerate!! Tom is one of the most-genuinely-kindest-humble man I've met in a very long time!! Although, I am currently unemployed, he gave me some tips to try first, to buy some time. I will certainly be going back to him! I would HIGHLY recommend him to everyone!!!! Rare experience. Good service and price. I felt like they were more concerned with my satisfaction than with
price. on one trip a minor repair was done and they would not take any money!

As soon as I was seen, owner went out and checked my truck. He then told me that the problem was not what I thought and where to go to repair my truck. No charge, just swift, professional service.

They're no nonsense, they do only what's necessary, and they'll actually, instead of replacing the whole part, cut out a piece that needs to be replaced and replace it. He is just excellent, and does really good work. His pricing is good as he's not out to make a killing. There's a lot of integrity there.

This was a great experience. Don't let the facility fool you. This guy
is honest, and inexpensive. He went beyond the expectation for us.

My old muffler fell off from rust quite a while ago, and after having gotten a few estimates in the $250 range to fix it, I'd been putting it off. Then I moved to Asheville and didn't have a clue who to go to here and wasn't excited about getting a bunch of new estimates and rolling the dice on quality. After reading the review on Mason's muffler here, I decided to give hom a shot. As noted in the other review, it's just one guy working in an old garage. He replaced my muffler and repaired one of the pipes for $100, well below the estimates I'd gotten before. It took him about 45 minutes, and he even suggested a good cafe for me to go to while I waited. His business was very old school, being cash only and with a hand-written receipt, and the building is clearly a no frills kind of place. That said, he did great work and really seemed to know his trade, and I certainly felt like I got a good value. I'd definitely recommend him.

I have used Mason Muffler Service for most of my exhaust work over the past three years, maybe 4 times in total, and each time, the young guy who runs the shop, does excellent work, for minimum cost. If you have had muffler work done, you probably realize that there is a lot of potential to be overcharged. I have had quotes for an exhaust problem on a Subaru Outback that ranged from $400 up to $1100, and when I went to Mason, he did it for under $200. He's totally honest, quick and cheap. The shop is old and dusty, but the waiting room has a TV, a bathroom, and a heater in the winter. The young guy who runs the shop works alone, so call ahead to schedule your work if you're on a tight schedule. I believe its cash or check only.
