Aside from ripping us off for his services, Dick assembled a team of professionals who we paid an additional $1000.
He does not know what he is doing.  We were forced to accept an inadequate settlement from the builder of our new Healthy Built Home.  We feared that the conflicting reports, which were disputed by the true experts would jeopordize our recovery of some of our costs.  Beyond the outrageous charges, Dick took liberties in charging to review a report from a case in 2005.  When a person charges $100/hr., they should get approval before charging thousands to review their old files .  We ended up paying almost $3000 for this man to read things and he charged us for things like researching the weather, yet never actually did the work.  He lies.  He cannot be trusted.  Need we say more?

We were looking at a home in Asheville area and was referred to Mr. VanDyke's company after the home inspection because of concerns about mold in the house.  We emailed the home inspection report.  Mr. VanDyke charged me about an hours time to read the report, which took me less than 10 minutes to read, and then charged me another 30 minutes time to write up recommendations and remediations.   When I asked him about his charges, he responded that he would send my account to collection. He was very negative to all the other people involved in the initial report, including the home inspector saying that he wasn't qualified to do mold testing etc.   He seems to have a negative personality and obviously severely over charges. I would never recommend his services, unfortunately.
