John is a very nice guy. He seems to have trouble finding and keeping help. Some of the workers had no experience and their work was not of highest quality. Overall the work was acceptable but not great. Unfortunately John seems overwhelmed with the management aspects of the business. Very poor communications - does not respond to phone or email for days. Doesn't show up when expected. Has an endless list of excuses - my truck broke down - somebody quit etc etc. If getting some work done at a good price is your object you might find this acceptable. If ;you want to deal with a reliable professional service company Indigenous Design is not it, in my experience.

I hired John Love, Indigenous Design a year ago. The SHAME of this is that John is a really nice person. I hired him and his company on a MONTHLY contract of $156 a month. All went OK UNTIL July/August of this year. The beginning of August we saw our lawn DIE Day by Day!! I called John and asked him to come out - what was going on?? We had a BEAUTIFUL lawn which we have cared for at this house for 7 years - sod was put down in 2004 when we bought our house and then we took good care of it. When John came out to see the DEAD lawn, he said his company had not done anything. That it was NOT the time of year for them to be feeding etc. He left and said he would look into it. He then left me a message said he thought the problem was caused by a leaf fungus and did I want him to start the reparation effort. In the meantime, my next door neighbor told me that while we were away the end of July (when it was REALLY HOT - like 90 degrees) she saw John's guys spreading something on our lawn. She made particular note of this since it reminded her to ask her lawn company something. I called John and said 1) Impossible for this to be a leaf fungus - this would NOT know property lines and my grass is DEAD and the lawns directly adjoining mine are NOT. And I told him what my neighbor saw. He finally called me back and said YES they did check their records and they put down something late July that SHOULD not have KILLED my lawn but did. HE PROMISED he would fix it 100% - I told him I was going away for 3 weeks and he said don't worry by the time I get back I would see grass growing. I came back 6 days EARLY and NOTHING had been done. I called him and said what miracle will give me grass in 6 days. His guys came that next day and did what they should have done weeks ago. BUT our front lawn has a slope - and the seed washed away. We did EVERYTHING we should have done - no grass. Finally with a lot of rain after two weeks, some grass grew but lots of empty spaces. Our lawn is growing but it is SO far from what it was. I e-mailed and called John repeatedly to ask him to come out to meet with us to discuss this. I said if the seed doesn't work, we would need him to sod the front. I was FINE with the back. NO answer from John for days. Just this Tuesday he said someone would come out. NO ONE came and NO response from an e-mail I sent to ask what is going on. SOO we are DONE!!!!! FINISHED!! DISGUSTED!!!

First, we were very please with the cleanup work they had done.
Then John's estimate was reasonable - he gave special consideration since we are away a few months of the year.
When we returned a week ago we were VERY pleased with the lawn and the property care.
I would highly recommend Mr Love and his company. He is very responsive and considerate of your special needs.

John Love and his crew are excellent to work with. We first called John based on a recommendation from a friend (2008).. to plant a row of arborvitaes to create a buffer across the back of our yard. We ended up have him draw a plan, including plant recommendations, to landscape our entire front yard, which included all the shrubs, trees, creation of beds and the hard and softscape of a large front bank. We still regularly receive complements on the front yard/bank today. John's crew also provided occasional lawn service and helped us maintain the beds.
We recently purchased a new home which had a stone pond with waterfall in the back yard. It was in a terrible state of neglect due to a neighbors silt fence breach and general lack of maintenance. After heavy rains and resulting overflow we realized the pond had not been installed with the appropriate overflow system. John and his crew fist installed the proper overflow system then went to great lengths (two complete draining and clean outs) to get it this pond and waterfall to the point it is today with crystal clear water. Well above and beyond the call! In addition to being a pleasure to be around (both John and his crew) John has an exceptional knowledge of native flora and is always quick to share his knowledge with regard to maintenance and care. As for cost. John's work is consistently priced on the mark. We strayed one time for and quot;cheaperand quot; mulch. We got what we payed for and learned our lesson.... it was not only cheap, it was unsightly. If you want truly professional work and great value for your dollar, call John.

Work completed on time. Looked great for six months. Now grass won't grow. They as landscapers should have advised us if the location wasn't suitable for grass or how we could have made it more so. The yard is like walking on a big muddy sponge. They came back to take a look, agreed there was a problem then never heard from them again. Nice guys, poor work.

John Love and his crew are excellent to work with and a delight to be around. They are energetic, professional, knowledgeable and eager to please. If you are looking for a landscaper who is exceptionally knowledgeable about plants and placing the right ones in the right sites, you should call John. It was great to work with someone who really listened to what I wanted and worked with me to achieve the final results.I know you will find John Love and his team to be exceptionally trustworthy and honest. I am continuing to work with them on future projects.

The project took a little over a month. There were a couple of delays when the rented Bobcat used for moving heavy stones and planting large trees broke down and when John hurt his back near the end of the project from lifting way too many heavy items. The final cost was more than the estimate due to the fact that I wanted more items than originally planned.
