We try our best to please everyone though sometimes there are extenuating circumstances! i.e., just this morning 3 prospective customers called at once.At the time I was driving and was late to an appointment. While we try very hard to give outstanding customer service...sometimes it is harder than other times. Dear [member name removed], I am really sorry that we cannot get your clock repaired and back to you within a few weeks. At present we are running 5 to 6 months behind. Because of our high quality work and great customer service (both of which we pride ourselves in) we get a lot of repeat business and referrals. Horology is a dying art and Mr. Gin is a craftsman to boot. To be fair to everyone, we must take the clocks on a first come first serve basis. If you should decide to use our service in the future we would be happy to work with you.

He was very punctual when he came to inspect the clock initially. Very carefully wrapped all the part in plastic tubes to take it to his shop. Told me it would be about two months. I received a call that the clock was ready and when it could be reinstalled. Received a call the day before to remind me. Arrived on time, explained all the part of the clock that never were explained to me when I initially bought the clock at Ethan Allan many years ago. Will call him in 5 years for cleaning, or at any time I have a problem.
Description of Work: Repaired a tall case clock. Had to remove it and take it to his shop. The difference between repair and a new movement was just few dollars so I had him order and install a new movement.

Poor - untimely response to phone calls, exhorbitant prices, inflexibile, unavailable.
Description of Work: Estimate for cleaning and repairing my clock was 500% more than anyone else. Would not fix the clock at my home and insisted on taking it to the shop. Very limited availability in addition. Will not recommend.

We are so sorry that you didn’t decide to use our services. I’m sure you would have changed your opinion if you had, as customer service is of utmost importance to us...next to doing an excellent job. We do work by appointment only, but this is for your convenience and as well as ours. I am also sorry that you called when I was driving to SC to deliver some repaired clocks and that I was unable to check my calendar at that very moment. We did not return until after dark. I suggested that you might want to bring your mantel clock to our workshop as most people are happy to do this to help keep the cost down. If they are unable to bring the clock or it is a Grandfather clock, we will pick it up, an option I suggested to you, but we must charge for both driving time and gas as this is how we make our living. Occasionally we can repair a clock without taking it out of the home, but this is rare. Most often the work has to be done at out workshop because cleaning and repairing clocks is generally messy...not something we would want to do on your dining room table! Also, in-depth trouble shooting requires more tools than we can bring to your home. Regarding the ball park figures I quoted over the phone based on what you told me about your clock, I believe that you will find it difficult to find many clock repair people to even compare prices with, especially someone who can do the quality work we do and you will find that we are not overpriced. As there are so few people who do clock repair these days and with new customers, repeat business and referrals, we stay extremely busy. We apologize that we cannot get to everyone’s clock immediately. We do the best we can, work hard and try to accommodate everyone as much as is possible. -Our Howard Miller Wall Clock with pendulum and chimes had fallen. The clock hands were out of sync and the pendulum stopped moving. I left the clock at Clockwise on January 15 after receiving an estimate. The clockworks had to be ordered from Germany and the estimated time for repair was 6-8 weeks. The clock was repaired and ready on February 12. Service was excellent. This is a master clocksmith. I highly recommend.

Overall, his work was very professional and he does a good job and is very knowledgeable. If you are in a hurry to get your clock fixed I would not recommend him, if you are wanting a good job and can wait he is your man.
Description of Work: I have a very old grandfather clock that needed cleaning and some work done. He came out and took the works of the clock back to his shop. He did say it would take some time and it did, however they were in the mist of a move and I was OK with that.

Thank you for the review, . Now that we have caught up after moving up to the Asheville, NC area (which set us back about a month) we have about a 2 month wait once the clock is in our shop. We can expedite the work on a clock, but we have to charge extra for this as everyone would like to have their clock back ASAP (understandably). Thank you again, Carlee and VK

'sI have used Angie's Listn it ran before
Description of Work: My mantle clock stopped running. I have had very poor experience with repairs in the past and based on recommendations from Angie's List choose ClockWise but with reservations. I had to travel quite a distance from my home and they were difficult to find. They looked at the clock and said if I wanted to leave the clock it would be at least 1 1/2 months before they could look at it and give me an estimate. There would be a $50 deposit also. I have used Angie's List with very good results several times recently and based on that, and their references I took a chance and left the clock. It proved to be one of the best experiences I have had with repairs of any nature. They called me in about 7 weeks and gave me a price of $179 for cleaning and said the $50 would be subtracted from it. Also, when the clock was dismantled, there could be additional charges depending on any repairs needed. I told them to proceed and soon received a call a saying there were indeed some repairs needed and gave me a price. I told them to do the repairs. I was fairly certain the clock would need some repair work after what was done to it during prior repairs. I picked up the clock about mid September and the charge was $340 less the $ 50 deposit. I would not have paid this much normally but I have a strong emotional attachment to it. I consider it a very good investment since the clock runs beautifully and only needs winding every 7 days compared to 4 days when it ran some time ago. The downside is they have recently moved to Weaverville, NC. this is a bit of a hike for me but fortunately I will have 5 years before that id an issue.

He was very personable, and took a lot of time to show me how to adjust the clocks. I had another estimate for three times the amount Clockwise charged. I will for sure use them again.
Description of Work: I used Clockwise Service & Repair to set up the grandfather clock I bought in Germany. He also adjusted and set up another clock.
