My wife was home, I was at work. The installer (Josh Carpenter) came by, picked up the parts I had laid out for him, and completed the job in 45 minutes. Nicely done, and then my wife asked how much we owed. "Your husband and I agreed on $200", which really floored my wife, since the job had been so easy and straightforward. She paid the $200. I calculate that Josh made himself about $250/hour for that job, a bit exorbitant. I guess next time, ask how long the job will take, then calculate at perhaps $80/hour, what a good mechanic's garage might make. Ya want the expertise ya gotta pay, but what is reasonable?
