Les is a master craftsman! He designed and built beautiful cabinets in our primary bath and on our landing. He brought creativity and care and even good humor to the project. He is a joy to work with— gracious, personable and terrifically talented. The bath cabinets in particular presented problems, and Les solved those beautifully. We want him to do more in our home!

He quickly worked out the drawings, consulted with us regularly and was good about communicating and meeting his commitments including showing up when he said he would. Les designed, built and installed custom cabinets around our family room fireplace.  They really exceeded our expectations!  He did a great job for a fair price.  Les is a real professional.  We highly recommend him and would call on him again.

I felt it went very well. Les told me up front that he would not be able to complete the project until March of 2021 and he was finished by early March. Definitely a man of his word. The quality of his work is superb, I would highly recommend Les.

Les is a real artist. I bought a Craftsman home In the Blue Ridge mountains a year ago. My personal style is mid-century modern. The fireplaces, etc., were very traditional and I needed a large wall unit/desk for the downstairs family room as well. Most of the homes in this area have either traditional or rustic interiors and I was a little worried about finding someone who could translate my aesthetic. I was so lucky to find Les on Angie’s List. Les has an amazing eye for design of all styles. He created two stunning custom mantels and the wall unit of my mid-century modern dreams. He’s in high demand for a good reason. His craftsmanship is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The European training is evident in the impeccable construction and detailing. Definitely worth the waiting list!

Les Dunne is the increasingly rare "old school" professional. What that means in this age of diminished expectations is that he shows up when he says he will and does exactly what was agreed upon, down to the smallest detail. You will think that your project is the most important one he has ever worked on. If you just want a carpenter, you can find one easily enough. However, if you are seeking a master craftsman who transforms wood into a thing of beauty, Les should be your choice!

Perfect! Les is a true artisan. I wanted a wall unit in mid-century modern style, but able to hold at least 1,000 pounds of books and including a laptop desk section. Les brought me shop drawings, we made some minor changes. He later brought me stained samples of my walnut wood so I could choose exactly the tone I wanted. It was installed today and I was speechless when I saw it. It may my favorite piece of furniture I’ve ever owned. It’s so beautiful, I told Les that now we need to design a custom fireplace surround for the same room, one that’s worthy of being in the same room as the wall unit. Thank you, Les!

From the initial estimate to the placement of the final drawer pull, Asheville Cabinets and Millworks was a delight to work with. Les is professional, punctual and made an extra efforts to deliver the kitchen cabinets of my dreams. His price was fair, in fact, better than other name cabinet manufacturers.

First of all, the person who gave this artist an “F” for being out of the country on vacation recently, needs to be tarred and feathered. If you need your cabinetry right now, there is a store for you called IKEA. If you don’t mind waiting patiently for a beautiful, functional piece of art, then Les Dunne is the guy for you. We recently moved into a house with dated kitchen cabinets and not enough storage. There was an unused corner behind the kitchen peninsula that was screaming for a built-in and shelves but I couldn’t quite figure out how to tie it in to the existing granite or cabinets. I also wanted contemporary looking smooth cabinet doors, which are difficult to fashion from real wood, and floating shelves that can hold a lot of weight. Les answered my inquiry promptly, came over and took measurements, and came up with a design that checked all the boxes. The wood is cherry to match the existing kitchen cabinets (so I only have to replace the doors later to match) and the cherry wood heavy duty floating shelves have some racks for glasses. The price was very reasonable for the quality and amount of time invested. (It took a whole day to install it correctly since your floors and walls are never level or square). Despite Les taking vacation (like a normal person) in the middle of the project and me being excited to get it done, the project was finished in a timely fashion. It is absolutely beautiful and very functional and the quality is top notch. As expected of a quality craftsman who does everything himself, Les has a full schedule so I’ll have to wait a bit to have him make new kitchen cabinet doors but it will be worth the wait.

We would not hesitate to recommend Les. He is an artist and handled a challenging job with professionalism, creativity, courtesy and artistry. He always came when promised and cleaned up before he left. He gave us exactly what we wanted. I felt like all our wishes were granted. We could not be anymore pleased. We will be using him him again in the future.

We needed a custom built reception counter to meet the requirements for our office entrance area. Les delivered an excellent finished product, which he built and installed meeting quite a tight timeline on my end. His work is very detailed and thorough and of highest quality. I would highly recommend him and will definitely use Asheville Cabinetry & Millwork for any future projects again.

Les designed, fabricated, and installed a kitchen banquette bench for us. His vision for the design and craftsmanship for the fabrication was excellent. Because no house is square or plumb, he was able to install the bench in such a way that it looks built in. All aspects of the project went very well. He did a remarkable job and we are extremely pleased.

This required much more than a handyman due to the precision needed to make such replacements. Only a cabinet maker could understand how to do it and I was extremely confident Les could do this ... and was so pleased he could fit this into his schedule. The result was perfect!

We wanted a bookcase that would double as a railing to our staircase going downstairs. We had a general idea, but Les offered more specific suggestions we had never considered. It turned out beautiful and looks like it was always there. The additional stain work he did on some fireplace mantles and additional woodworking was beautiful. Les was punctual, professional, and we would highly recommend him.

The whole process went smoothly. He listens well to the client’s vision and artfully brought to life the look we were going for. He is not only a skilled carpenter but also has an artistic gift in his work. We wanted a custom made, easy to assemble, antiqued wood bed with a medieval flair. He drew up a plan and checked in with us through the whole process, offering his feedback and adjusting changes if needed. We merely had a theme in mind and he designed and built a work of art. The antiqued wood blends well with our other antiques but is far more durable. It’s a perfect blend of beauty and practicality. We highly recommend him for any carpentry project you might have, and we look foward to having him build more here.

Awesome service! I really wanted to salvage a good part of my kitchen, and while most wanted to talk me out of saving existing cabinets, Les worked with me creatively, offered me good ideas to think about, and in the end, we were able to come up with a happy solution for us both. He was punctual with his deadline, even early on delivery, always communicated effectively, a good listener, pleasant to have around, tidy, and happy to accommodate my additional bits and pieces i continually added to his to do list. I couldn't be more pleased with the floor to ceiling cabinet Les built for me. He matched a separate vanity I bought down to every detail in style and color. It fits perfectly, integrates some wiring and a switch plate that have to be in the same space, and is absolutely beautiful. Les was great to work with and delivered each step of the process as promised.
