The builder of my house had installed great underground drains away from the house and down the hill. Archadeck closed them off and buried them. They could have (SHOULD have) attached the downspouts from their installation to the same place the original downspout (that they removed) drained. Instead, they left them to dump water on my stone patio and to run off next to the house where they pool next to the basement in huge puddles.
After the first rain, I reported numerous leaks; it took 2 weeks for them to come out to fix them. They installed a second downspout and that helped a lot, but it still leaks (just a little) and the down spouts still pour water right next to the house where one runs off across the patio and the others pool outside the basement. On Sept 4, in response to my email asking them to complete the fix, they said they would come out "next week."
Today is Sept 26: no fix, no communication - not a call, not an email.
The roof and posts and downspouts look terrific. The quality of material seems to be very good. The installation was, perhaps, hurried and insufficient for handling water run-off, did not meet my expectations for completeness and quality, but otherwise seems to be good.
Hugh (the seller) and Sean (the installer) are exceedingly polite and easy to talk with, but there is virtually no communication from either of them outside of what I, myself, initiate. Sean promised to do some work one day and never showed up, never called. As I noted above, I have not heard from them in 22 days and finally sent them another note today.
I was going to hold off on this review, but I am so p***** off that I decided to write it today. A simple installation is not completed to my satisfaction in almost 3 month's time. That is enough for me to not recommend this company.
UPDATE: I changed ratings upward after Archadeck returned and fixed all issues in a timely manner. The bottom line is the end result and I am satisfied with the end result. Communication was better with this last fix and we now have a deck cover that is what we wanted. I just hope the first heavy rain proves the fixes worked; I believe it will be fine.
"We were able to resolve the issues [member name removed] had with the work. There was a misunderstanding about the scope of work contracted. We accept accept responsibility for that and did the additional work at no added cost to [member name removed]. I have checked back in with him since our efforts to clear up the problem and he was satisfied we had addressed his issues."
Hugh Meenan was continually pleasant and true professional. We very happy with the results and the deck has added great value to our home compromised by a very steep building site.
Due to a change in zoning laws, our project start date was delayed due to approval of a zoning variance hearing, in which Hugh was our representative.
Within a week of the variance being approved, the deck construction began and was completed within the time frame (excluding in-climate weather) that we were initially quoted.
It was obvious from the start that attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship & personal service were ever present.
Throughout the project, the work site was cleaned and tidy at the end of every day. No stray nails, or wood to worry about stepping on or tripping over.
Hugh kept us updated and informed throughout the project.
The end result is beyond our expectations. We not only got additional usable outdoor space, but additional outdoor space with incredible design and workmanship.
We look forward to years (decades) of being able to utilize and admire a backyard space that was basically useless before.
