After I moved to Asheville it took me a while to find a local show repair shop which I would entrust with my really expensive and beloved men's shoes. I am happy I found Samay Shoe Repair. Samuel O. did a fine job in adding new leather soles and heels to two of my dress shoes which aged in dignity due to constant good care and maintenance by skilled professionals. The job was done more or less in time. I had asked to do the job in one week, meaning to pick up my shoes the day before Thanksgiving. Guess I was not the only one with that request. When I called on Wednesday I was told the job was not finished, and we agreed to postpone the completion to Black Friday. (It's generally a good idea to call ahead before traveling a longer distance to come for a supposedly completed job. That applies to any business, not just to this one.) A brief call on said Friday confirmed that my shoes were ready for pick-up. While I was on the way (a 20-minute drive) Samuel even called to let me know that he was exceptionally closing an hour early. Very considerate! Samay Shoe Repair definitely earned my repeat patronage.

It was fine except that he was closed and I had trouble picking them up. He may have been prompt but I was going to go out of town, so I went on a Saturday thinking I can pick it up on my way to the airport and he was closed.

1) They were not ready on date promised - returned THREE times on future days promised to be ready 2) On fourth return visit was told and quot;we're working on them - come back in 30 minutesand quot; 3) When and quot;doneand quot; they were NOTHING like what I had wanted - slick leather soles like originals, not non-slip as promised. I was incredulous! 4) Returned at promised time for and quot;correctedand quot; soles. 5) Still not ready. Waited on premises, as I was leaving the country in two days, and wanted to take the boots. 6) Owner announced proudly that I was getting $70 worth of work for only $50. I said that the frustration of the experience warranted free soles, but I would pay the originally agreed upon $50. I will NEVER go back to Samay Shoe Repair.

Call these people before driving there! A date to pick up does not mean shoes are ready and business hours do not mean they are open! I made 3 trips to pick up my shoes.

Originally wasn't sure if shoes could be fixed. Samay's fixed both shoes and you can't even tell they were resewn. It is good to see a real craftsman who does exceptional work at an exceptional price. I'm so glad I found him through Angie's List.

Although the provider has trouble understanding southern English he did good work in a timely fashion. I would go to him again if I experience any other shoe Problems.

Work was decent, and price seemed fair. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was poor. One repair only lasted one wearing. I strongly suspect this was the best that could be done with these shoes, but when I took them in, I was assured they were repairable. Also, I was originally told the shoes would be ready by Wednesday. When. I went to pick them up, I was told they would be ready on Friday. When I called on Friday, was told they would be ready by that afternoon. When I stopped in shortly before closing, I was told they would be ready by 19 AM on Monday. When I stopped in on Monday, I was told they would be ready by Tuesday. I returned on Friday and was finally able to pick them up.

No apologies or attempts to explain at any point. Horrid service, to say the least.

Excellently. Made an old pair of work boots look like new and my favorite motorcycle boots usable for a few more years.

He looked at the shoes, wrote down the problems, gave me a quote and a ticket. A week later I picked up everything and it is working now. This is my 3rd shoe repair place in Asheville and by far the best and most punctual.

He had the work done within 3 days and the craftsmanship was perfect. He even polished both pair boots and they looked brand new. I was very happy with this experience and will definitely be back as my boots wear and for any other fine shoe needs that arise.

Simple job, performed well, but pricey

The clerk repaired the shoes within a few minutes, and didn't even charge us for it! He said it was such a small repair, he was happy to do it. We will definitely use this shop again! Very friendly and professional from the minute we walked in the door.

I've about said it all. They are good.

I broke the zipper on a pair of my favorite boots. Normally, I would have taken them to my usual shoe repair place, but they recently closed the shop. After researching the list of shoe repair places on Angie's List, I decided to try Samay Shoe repair. The list was
rather limited especially after reading the reviews, so I was a bit apprehensive on what I would find. I am, however, very pleased with my experience at Samay's. The store is very clean and uncluttered. The owner, assuming it's Mr. Samay, was very polite. After looking over the boot he said he could put a new zipper in at a cost of $25 and it would be ready in a week. Not only was the boot ready as promised, but he saved the original zipper, fixed the problem and only charged me $12! I will definitely use him again and highly recommend this shop.
