To say that we are disappointed would be an understatement. We had 2 good visits and then it was completely downhill. We contacted the manager at Merry Maids and advised the issues that we had. They didn't dust well at all. They left streaks on glass, they failed to do 1 room completely (the 300 sq ft room downstairs that they were only doing once per month!) even though we were clear that it needed to be done. They left countertops with crumbs on them. They didn't mop floors.
After complaining from the first bad visit, (we called and requested the person who had cleaned before--she did the job well). Must have been a fluke. She returned yesterday with someone who was training and with 2 people, they did a horrible job! They left the hardwood floors un-mopped, the kitchen floor un-mopped, crumbs on the counters, where we had had coffee that morning, there was very small spill of coffee that was still there after they left--which signified to us that we need to check the counters--only to find them unclean. In addition there were areas that didn't get vacuumed as well. We spend over an hour mopping the floors that they neglected (as well as attending to the other smudges they left). We KNOW they neglected them as we could tell as soon came in the house. The mop brought nothing up but dirty water. In addition, they attempted to clean our glass coffee table and glass side-table, but left quite a few obvious streaks on them---so we had to re-do them.
My husband called Merry Maids and spoke to the Manager. He let her know how disappointed he was and that he wanted to come by and pick up our house key as we would no longer be needing their services. He went through the complete list of what we came home to yesterday calmly. The Manager's response, and quot;I just don't know what to say?and quot; This is NOT the first time we have addressed this with her and we still gave this company other chances to correct their performance. The Manager, as in the past calls, made no attempt to make any type of financial credit or any good faith offer to make it right for the customer. So, not only do they do a horrible job cleaning, they also have no concern to being customer-oriented. The best I can say is keep your money and clean it yourself. Don't know about you, but when we pay $100 to have the house cleaned, that's what we expect. We'll be looking for a company that actually does what they say they do and a management that stands behind their work and the customer as well. Use them at your own risk!
After explaining the situation, Lynn stated that she agreed with me 100% that you do not accidentally place something in your bag and that she would address the situation with Linda, face to face and call me back the following day.
The next morning, I received a call from Lynn who stated that she wholeheartedly believed Linda did not steal the ribbon, but had in fact thought it was a gift since I had laid the check on top of it. She stated that she knew Linda like the back of her hand and would swear on a stack of Bible and the lives of her children that Linda did not intentionally take the ribbon. She stated that Linda had said she thought it was odd and did not even want it, but took it anyway. She stated that Linda had said because our tree was decorated in purple and the ribbon was red that it was a gift (we used the ribbon to hang wreaths outside from our windows). Lynn blamed the situation on miscommunication and an misunderstanding, stating that Pam had never spoken to Linda herself and only repeated what she had heard from Nicki. However, this could not be possible since I spoke with Pam prior to speaking with Nicki. Nicki would not have even known there was an issue. Lynn stated she would deal with Pam, (nothing was mentioned about Linda being held accountable) and that the problem began with her for not being truthful about speaking with Linda. I reminded her that the problem began when Linda took the ribbon from my home. Lynn spoke to me as if I were a kindergarten student and not a grown woman, only repeatedly saying, and quot;I'm sorry.and quot;
My issue is that there is a clear lack of integrity and an acceptance of it by the owner and office staff. It seems as though they are all lying to protect Linda. I believe I was lied to by all parties involved. There is no doubt in my mind that Pam did indeed speak to Linda and I am only being lied to by Lynn so there is a possible excuse for Linda.
There were too many explanations that changed depending on who was telling the story.
It is ludicrous to take anything from another person's home that is not expressly yours to take. I did not intend my decorating ribbon as a gift, nor did I leave a card or any indication that Linda was to take it. First, according to Pam, it was an accident. Then after Linda spoke to Nicki and Lynn (I believe coached to say she thought it was a gift), the story changed yet again. Because the local office is a franchise, it is obvious there will be no repercussions for Linda and it is clear it is more important to protect an employee than to conduct an ethical business.
