J B's Heating & Cooling

An HVAC contractor recently installed a heat pump that wasn't performing properly. They were unable to correct the problem. I asked JB's Heating and Cooling to check it out. JB was very good about sending his technical crew to evaluate the heat pump installation. Problem? Wrong sized unit. JB clearly explained the situation. He showed FAR MORE customer support than the installation contractor. Which explains why JB now has my business. For an HVAC contractor to install a wrong sized heat pump and then lose his business to another HVAC contractor because of it - represents a new low in my HVAC experience. Thank you so much, JB, for treating customers with support and respect instead of just a way to make money ... and move on to the next.

Other than the filters, they did not have to change anything. I've been using them for, I'd say three years.? I would give them A's all the way.

I've not had to have any maintenance done but they do service my unit twice a year.  I pay $75 for each service call.  They just have excellent customer service and they're very punctual.  If they say they're gonna be here at eight, they're here at eight.  Their technician was good; he was professional and courteous.  Overall, that company - and I've had them for a couple of years - and they've always just been really excellent.  I would give them A's all the way down.

From the beginning of the estimate process to the final completion of the job, I could not be happier. Rodney was knowledgeable and experienced in HVAC. He did not try to sell me something that did not meet my needs for the age and design of my house (built in 1964). I highly recommend them based on their quality of service and the fact that you could easily get in touch with them. They would always return your call in a timely manner. I had 3 other quotes from competing and well known Asheville companies. JB's beat them all without question.

A coupon was purchased from Angie's List for diagnostic services from JB's Heatting & Cooling at around 7:30 AM, on 18 December.  The earliest scheduled date that could be selected on-line was for Monday, 21 December, but my wife received a call from the manager within one and a half hours.  The technician call soon afterwards to arrange a time to come out.
The compressor unit was found to have a blown capacitor and needed a refrigerant top off.  Our heat pump was functional again within 3 hours from the time JB's was contacted.  Our home was back to comfortable temperatures again on a cool December's day.

Courteous, prompt and thorough. They could have recommended additional charges but didn't. Had we not booked them through Angie's list. There would have been NO charge for the service that day. JB's thought that for the effort they hadn't really done anything.

Punctual, polite, and very professional. They were comfortable around our dogs, and cleaned up after they were done. No wasted time, and we will call them again for our heating and cooling needs.

Our air conditioner was not working, it was a warm day, and my 83 year old parents were coming the next day.  I called, explained my situation and was apologetically told that it wouldn't be until late in the day when a service person could arrive.  They called early afternoon to say they were in the neighborhood and could come right then.  They repairman looked at the unit outside, found and replaced the dead capacitor, and then showed me the old part and explained how he knew it was the culprit.  He then tested the unit which was now working and blowing in colder air than required, but not as cold as he would have liked.  He looked at the central air unit in our crawl space and replaced a very dirty filter, which lowered the temperature even more and into his desired range.  He finished this all in less than the hour I was paying for, so he offered to go into the attic an replace the filter for my other unit, which he did.  Work was completed less than 4 hours from my initial call to the company.
Fast response time, incredibly courteous service, full explanations of the needed repair, and no up-selling.

Great! They were on time. They made me feel comfortable and told me what the costs were up front. They were here to do basic maintenance and provide a quote but had the time and fixed the unit. Did not try to up-sell a higher priced unit. So glad to work with a company that wants to take care of customers.

After having a miserable experience with another HVAC company who I hired through Angie's List, I was very please with this company. Very professional service, fully explaining situation and options.. Price was 30% less than the other HVAC service who I reviewed here.

After calling many furnace service places, the person at J and B was the only one who tried to help me figure out the problem over the phone before coming over. He seemed to notice that I was genuinely interested and willing to do what I could to get the furnace going and he took about 25 minutes of his (unpaid) time to walk me through some steps to check if perhaps it was a simple solution to the problem, especially since it was our first time ever using the furnace since we had only moved into the house about 4 weeks prior. Unfortunately all the things he walked me through did not make the furnace produce warm air fire and so they sent people over the next morning to diagnose the problem. They were thorough, explained everything, and fixed the problem. I cannot say anything about the cost because I have nothing to compare it to, having only used a wood-burning stove all my time as an adult home manager. But it seemed reasonable to me for all the time and parts they invested. I would definitely use them again. They seem to have a wonderful old-fashioned, strong and honest work ethic, and come when they say they will, on time. Definitely impressed.

Both systems had boilers and he replaced what needed in one and did his magic on the other one and both working fine for our tenants the day after the calls came in.

They provided top-notch service. I spent $120 and that included the cost of the new capacitor.

My a/c was blowing warm air off and on so I called JB's. They were out the next day and inspected the unit and told me the problem was the power interuptor that I allowed Duke Energy to install on my air conditioner. There was nothing wrong with the interuptor itself, I was just under the impression that it shut the whole system down, not just the compressor. Long story short, I was very plesed with JB's and their honesty, and very upset with Duke Power. I called and canceeled the power interuptor. The JB's tech cleaned the coils while he was there and I am very pleased with their service and would definitely use them again in the future.
