Wake Remodeling

Once again we are filled with pride, happiness, and gratitude for the superior work done by Wake Remodeling. This master suite renovation was our second project with them; the first was an award-winning kitchen remodel. And there will likely be additional projects as we have developed trusting relationships with the company owner as well as the crew. They provide detailed estimates and adjust whenever necessary. Work began on the exact day scheduled. There was a minor delay due to the pandemic – completely understandable. They communicate regularly so that we always knew who was coming, when they were coming, and what they were going to do. If there was a day or time inconvenient to us, it was rescheduled. They cleaned up the work area before leaving every day. Clearly, their goal was to ensure our satisfaction at all times. Any and all concerns were immediately addressed. This was a major renovation of the master bedroom, bathroom, and closet that included replacing the bedroom carpet with hardwood floors stained to match the rest of the house; installing wood ceilings in both the bedroom and bathroom; and a complete overhaul of the master bath. Our shower was in bad shape, our tub took up a lot of room and served no purpose as neither of us used it, and the entire bathroom was outdated. The bathroom remodel was designed for aging in place and includes several grab bars strategically located as well as a high-tech toilet with bidet and heated floor tiles. The tub was removed and the shower relocated to that area. Above the tub was a large picture window that was removed and restructured into a transom above the shower that allowed for both light and privacy. That, of course, required brickwork on the outside of the house. Now, we have a large, stunning shower with treated glass, a seat and two showerheads – one is a wand next to the seat. Moving the shower allowed for custom vanities with drawers that are extremely functional being specifically designed to hold hair styling tools and a makeup area for seating. We asked them to accommodate lighted glass sculptures and their cabinet maker designed a tower specifically for this purpose and the electrician set it up so the cords from the light bases were not showing. Once again, we worked with their gifted designer who guided us through all material selections. She offered options and truly helped with the decision process. When it comes to choosing tile, cabinet styles, hardware, and paint colors she has the ability to pull it all together in a way that generates stunning results. Her guidance was priceless! Fresh paint everywhere, new fan and TV mounted in the bedroom…all perfectly done. Wake Remodeling even has a “cleaner” who comes in when all the work is done to ensure everything is spotless! And when we dinged the walls moving the furniture back into the bedroom, the painter returned and touched it up. In the last 30 years, in prior homes, we have done many, many renovations and experienced both good and bad contractors. The Wake Remodeling team has now completed two renovations for us and both have exceeded our expectations. There will more than likely be future projects and they will be the team we call.

We interviewed four contractors for our kitchen renovation and Wake Remodeling was the clear winner. Luke Dobbins exhibited a professional and a let’s-get-down-to-work demeanor along with a clear understanding and knowledge of the tasks at hand. Additionally, he was a down-to-earth kind of guy who we felt comfortable with immediately. Following the first meeting, he provided a comprehensive and detailed estimate…the best ever experienced during our myriad of past renovation experiences. Throughout the process, Luke accompanied each new trade person for introductions and project overview to ensure we were all on the same page. We felt comfortable with every one who worked in our home including the cabinetmaker, painters, tile installer, electrician, etc. Wake Remodeling also works with a designer – Lee Anne Martin. When I first noticed that designer services were included in the estimate, we thought of all the renovations we did in the past without the help of a designer and we were skeptical of the need for this. How wrong we were! I cannot stress enough how valuable her services were during this process! Her tile, paint, and hardware selections were perfect, as well as recommendations for more minor things like countertop edging style. Having her assistance definitely lowered our stress levels throughout this process. Luke and Lee Anne shared the view that this was our kitchen and they wanted us to be happy with everything. To that end, every detail was addressed to our satisfaction and the end result is phenomenal! Friends and family have all been stunned by the dramatic change this renovation has made! In fact, Luke plans to submit photos of our kitchen for an award. We think they should win! I would whole-heartedly recommend Wake Remodeling to anyone. We will almost certainly engage them in future renovations.

Wake Remodeling did an outstanding remodel of our master and upstairs bathrooms: custom backsplash and tile, countertops, spa shower with bench, plumbing, mirrors, lighting, commodes, fixtures and cabinets. They also helped us economize by finding paint colors to update the hall bath cabinets instead of replacing them. We liked the software app for keeping track of the project, plus in-person communciation was superior! Luke and Matt responded immediately to every question and concern throughout the process and and even afterward. Delivered on time and with quality service. Highly recommend.

Our kitchen remodel in Spring 2018 was incredible! Luke Dobbins together with brother Matt, Melissa and Lee Anne gave us a first quality beautiful kitchen! They worked with us every step of the way to insure that quality and were always professional and easy to work with. We recommend them highly.

Wake Remodeling did a complete kitchen remodel for us. They listened to what we were looking for and made suggestions that resulted in both the look and efficiency of the kitchen exceed our expectations. The entire team was easy to work with, dependable, and incredibly skillful in the work they were doing. Coordinating all of the various skills, i.e. electrical, plumbing, cabinet install, tile, carpentry, painting, inspections, as needed to execute this project can be a daunting task but Wake Remodeling handled that in a very efficient manner. We could not be happier with how the entire kitchen remodel turned out, so, we have several future projects planned and will call on Wake Remodeling as our primary contractor.

I wish I could put a B+ up in the "Quality" section because the Wake Remodeling crew, while not perfect, did a really good work. When corrections had to be made (which were only a few), the gentlemen were on it. At least seven professionals provided the various expertise for the entire project (tear-down, framing, electrical, painting, drywall, etc.) and they were diligent with their chores, respectful to our property and courtesy in their interactions with our family. The price was fair and the B rating is there because Wake Remodeling was not the least expensive of the quotes we obtained. We are, however, very satisfied with the work and we would contract this company again if we need future remodeling.

We had an excellent experience with Wake Remodeling. Luke is honest, efficient and professional. He was very responsive to our questions/input throughout our project. He did an outstanding job of anticipating issues before they arose and providing advice on how to best deal with them. His team includes a reliable group of subcontractors who were pleasant to work with and did a very nice job.

The house was built in 1961 with a fallout shelter below. This adds a level of complexity to almost every update. The project took about a month longer than anticipated but there were no additional expenses. Everything done was high quality and with attention to detail. Very responsive to requests and questions. Very detailed estimate.

Luke Dobbins and his company, Wake Remodelling, are absolutely the best! They live up to their reputation. They started the project on time, they kept on schedule and they turned over their top quality project to us on time. Throughout the project they kept us informed on the next steps and always ensured we were happy with what they were doing. Every one of their subs were top notch people who were always considerate of us by ensuring we were not disturbed. Could not have asked for any better. Luke is great to deal with, as was his project leader, Raymond.

The project was completed as agreed to, on schedule, at the agreed to price. The result is spectacular. Wake Remodeling is a class act. This is our second project with them. We were so pleased before that (totally our of character) we didn't get other estimates for this project. The team is skilled, professional, courteous and especially out to make sure you are pleased. Their project manager is with you every step of the way, ensuring you know what's happening and are happy with the result so far. Every project has it's glitch. (Sorry, but it's true.) It's how they handle it that matters. In this project the glitch could have caused significant delay, but the WR team shuffled the work schedule to maintain the overall end date. They also found a way to absorb additional painting that I requested...without jeopardizing the schedule. We were very concerted about the dust that would be involved in refinishing the wood floor on entire first level of the house. They covered everything with plastic and erected plastic walls with zippered doors to seal the dust from the rest of the house. The floor work required that the entire first floor be vacated. We got moving and storage company estimates which were just too expensive. We expressed our concern to WR, and they offered their own alternative that was half the price and was more flexible....They'd move the furniture as and when they required. We used that and it went spectacularly. Our furniture moved out and back in without issue. When you deal with anyone on the team, you can tell that in addition to be a skilled tradesman, they are there to satisfy. And they know how to satisfy because they carefully listen.

Wake Remodeling is a fantastic company. My wife and I were having a baby and had family moving in with us, so we really needed to get the house remodeled before the baby arrived. Our original contractor was a complete disaster, screwing up every aspect of the project and taking forever to do so. I had to fire them. So I contacted Wake Remodeling and explained my dire situation. Owners Luke and Matt are genuinely kind, family-oriented people who went out of their way to help me get everything done on time, despite their busy schedules and prior commitments. They were extremely fair on pricing and never tried to gouge me, despite my back being against a wall. They remodeled three bathrooms for me and did an exemplary job with regard to quality. They even complete re-tiled the shower that the previous contractor had put in because they didn't want to stick me with something so poorly done that was destined to leak in the future. I highly recommend Wake Remodeling for any remodeling projects you might have. I plan on using them for my kitchen remodel next.

Luke gave us a detailed estimate and timetable of the job and made sure to communicate with us every step of the way. Everything went according to schedule with the only delay was delivery of the shower glass. Everyone was very helpful and nice - from helping us pick out the tile and fixtures to ensuring that our house was clean at the end of the job. A special shout out to Miquel for doing a fantastic job with our tile.

They finished us up a month ago. They started in October and finished in January.

The work took approximately 7 weeks to complete which seemed like a long time to have to be out of our bedroom and move all of our clothes, etc. upstairs to one of the other bedrooms. Even though the job took longer than expected, the results are worth it.  The quality of the work performed by the individual tradesmen, especially the painter and tile installer, were exceptional.  These people worked with us to customize to our individual needs including creating a small niche with electricity in the wall over the tub for a small radio and moving and installing electrical outlets and switches where we needed them. 

Our only complaint, aside from the length of time for the job, was the project management.  There were many times that a tradesman would show up and the project manager was not there to tell them what to do.  We felt that we were often acting as the project manager.  There also were days when no one showed up to work.  The job could have been completed much faster if tradesmen were lined up to follow one another.

Luke and his team were prompt returning phone calls and getting us our estimate. We relied heavily on their knowledge regarding cabinet, counter, and floor choices. We are very pleased with our selections and the finished product. They gave us a detailed calendar outlining the timeline for the project, and were able to match it fairly closely. As with any project, there were a few hiccups (one of them was my fault!) and everything was handled very professionally. Every worker who came to our house hired by them was polite and competent.

I was looking to do a shower enclosure 72? H (from the curb) by 4'' W made out of 3/4 inches thick glass.
I got 3 appraisals: $2500, $1800 and one from Wake Remodeling for $1250.
At first I was a bit skeptical of their price, but then, why not!  This was in May of 2013. It took me a year to finally call them back.
I was pleasantly surprised that WR honored year old quote. 
After my phone call it took WR about a week to schedule an appointment to measure and another (week) to cut glass.
Two weeks after the first appointment 2 guys team showed up right on time and my shower door was installed in about 2 hours.
Enclosure looked great. Hardware (hinges and door handle) looks nice and sturdy.

They did a really good job and even copied an end piece that I had a photo of from a friends house.

They did a fantastic job.  The project took about 10 days.  You cannot tell the sheetrock was ever damaged, they did such a great job. The price was less than others . They are coming out this week to touch up nicks and scrapes after flooring was installed.

We are immensely pleased with all the work done by Luke and his crews and can't say enough good things about the work performed!  Luke and his wife Catherine are a great team!  They are the most pleasant and customer service oriented people we have met in a long time!  They both offered ideas on tile design, cabinet adds and other items to compliment the updating.  Catherine took us to pick out granite, explaining the different levels and costs then worked to find enough available granite in the color we selected.  Catherine also came up with a great idea for the tile backsplash in the kitchen and was so excited when she saw the completed work.  They treated us like family, were very respectful of our home and schedules, making sure the crews cleaned up daily before leaving.  We were comfortable leaving his crew in the house while we were not there.  Luke was very quick to fix any issues that came up, large or small, at times performing the work himself, and always checking on his crews and following up to make sure we were satisfied with the work being done.  When a major problem arose, Luke was there immediately and came through with a very acceptable solution.  We felt the overall project cost was competitive and fair for the work performed.  Luke uses outstanding people for tile and cabinet work, and we've received many, many compliments on the work they did.  He also worked to get us a discount from a supplier because of a problem that set the project schedule back.  We are very glad we chose Wake Remodeling to do the work.  We have already asked for an estimate from WR on another project for this year.
