One of the items on my list was suppose to be ordered as soon as payment was received and work to begin on a two to three stage repair to occur the week following my payment. I had to request a cost breakdown of the total twice before I received a response. In addition, I made a request by phone and email with photos attached for an estimate of an additional item that needed to be addressed and to date, I have not received a response.
The items that could have been addressed in regards to my project that were ordered and prepaid in half by me awaiting inspection at time of pickup by JMC were not addressed. I planned to pay the balance owed supplier. This was communicated to JMC. Instead of a call on arrival and inspection, I received an email later that day to pay the balance after JMC had come and gone from the supplier. (The supplier had disclosed to me their concern with storing items in their warehouse and possible damage which was why I wanted them inspected on pickup and removal which did not occur.).
Furthermore, at the same time that JMC was using the weather as an excuse to not have initiated work on my project, JMC wanted to paint my front door which was on the list of items to be repaired/replaced/painted, etc.
After three to four weeks has gone by without communication or work on my home, I have requested a refund of my downpayment minus materials purchased on my behalf but not to order additional items. I wanted to retrieve items ordered on my behalf and paid for so that the special ordered item and items that I ordered myself could be installed by another contractor of my choice. I have not received an itemized bill for the charge of the door, credit on my original form of purchase, or the check in the mail.
"First off let me say JMC Construction has been in business for over fifteen years with an impeccable reputation. We have had difficult customers over the years but were always able to settle everything without ever using a formal complaint anywhere! Secondly this complaint is not even based on any actual work that we did for [member name removed]. This was a contract cancellation due to not being able to work on a schedule the customer was happy with. Yes, [member name removed] did ask me twice for an itemized list on the contract that was state on the estimate. I rewrote that info for her with an apology. Some other things were added in at no charge, we thought she would be happy with that. Zero was actually written in as the itemized price. Yes, [member name removed] did receive an email that she could go down and inspect her order and finish the payment. She had stated earlier she wanted my company to inspect the order as well as herself before making the final payment. This was an order she made on her own. Yes, we had historic bad weather during February. The conditions slowed down our schedule as well as many other businesses. Not an excuse, just a fact. We did not speak everyday, but have records of several emails and after hour phone calls of the weeks. [member name removed] has since cancelled the contract. We had something of hers to return, we have done that. We had an order in progress, we settled up with that and she can pick it up on her time. We have tried to give her the remaining portion of her deposit, minus the money for her special order, she did not accept this. We has signed a contract that she agreed to, the whole reason we take a down payment is so we don't get stuck with someone's order."
JMC has done other siding and window projects for us over the past 3 years and all have held up perfectly in that time.
