With our 12 month new home warranty soon to expire, I reached out to several home inspectors that rated well on Angie's List. Due to a short turn-around time requested and it being the week of Memorial Day, several inspectors weren't available, or their costs were astronomically high (nearly double of what Greg charged).
From start to finish, Greg was both professional and personable. He is very knowledgeable and made suggestions to better maintain the house. He was extremely thorough and meticulous, spending 5 hours on his initial visit (all the while apologizing for taking so long, but I reassured him I was very appreciative of his level of detail and insights, and indulging in conversation).
Coincidentally, the same day of the inspection our A/C stopped working on the first floor of our house. Greg was genuinely concerned for our welfare (given the heat in NC), that he offered to and followed-up to return later that afternoon to try and diagnose the issue, even though that was out of scope for his inspection.
In terms of the report, it was provided later that evening, as promised. It was straight-forward to read, succinctly written, and included photos of the problem areas.
I would highly recommend Greg and consider his services top notch.
We called Greg, and he was very responsive and was able to fit us in. When booking the appointment, you have to go through a call center which made a little leary at first (I was thinking big company = bad service), but Greg made himself available which made me feel much better. When asked how long will you stay, he responded, "until you are happy." Strong words, and he did exactly that.
Greg showed up early to our appointment. He had already started and caught me up to what he had looked at prior to my arrival. He checked nearly every inch of the house, and answered all of my questions. I know some of them were stupid, but he treated everyone equally and always made sure I understood his answers. He spent extra time looking at things that we had previously noticed while looking at the home. Before we left, we recapped issues that we had found to make sure that notes I had taken matched his. In total, he spent 6 hours inspecting the home.
He issued his report within 1 day of the inspection and gave the opportunity to proof the report again to make sure the report matched up to the issues found. His report was detailed, contained color pictures, and left little room for misinterpretation. As mentioned, he wasn't our first choice, but he was the best choice.
We would and have recommended Greg to friends, and we would definitely reccomend his services to others.
