Cary Air Conditioning & Heating

The owner and his worker (his brother) came to do the work.  The brother had a heart attack in the crawl space under the house while they were working.  Cary FD came, EMS came,  both went to the hospital. 

Very stressful and personal situation for them both.  The weather also happened to turn and it was FREEZING in our house.  I have a 90 year old aunt living with me who was very cold. 

Anyway, under these awful circumstances, the owner came  back the next day and bought a space heater and then finished the job with another worker.   As understandably upset as he was about his brother, he did excellent work and stayed until it was complete.  My house is now warmer than it has been in years. 

The workers were extremely nice, courtious, came when they said they would.  Finished the job under extreme stress and duress. 

I was very, very pleased with the service.  I had been planning to post this months ago but never got around to it.   (very unfair to them - sorry)

They know what they are doing. They are prompt and on time. They are fairly priced. I’ve been in business with them for years.

My upstairs unit stopped working. Jason came out and checked it out. My drain was clogged up so the unit shut down. He cleared it out and started it up. I was desperate to get our A/C back and he could have told me anything and I probably would have paid it. I really appreciated that they just charged the $75 service call and were honest about what was wrong. While he was there, I had him check the level of coolant and add some which was the rest of the charge. I have used them before and been very satisfied, also.

The $656 charge included an initial diagnostic service call of approximately an hour and a return call of approximately three hours with the needed part. Although I rated the price as "B" (good), I have little criteria for making that judgment except gut feel. The refrigerant was priced out separately at $216 and the initial diagnostic call at approximately $75. The remaining component of the bill was $365 for the valve and the labor in replacing it and evacuating, recharging, and testing the system. The prices were quoted to me before I decided to proceed with the repair. Although this was not an inexpensive service, I would not be at all surprised if the price should really be rated as "A" (excellent). I just felt that I could not go that far because of my own lack of knowledge in the area. My unit is 14 years old, although this is only my third season in the home. The unit required a major addition of refrigerant last year, which was done under a home warranty arrangement, and I suspect it was similarly serviced shortly before my first season. I had no reason to be confident of getting another year from this unit. The technician, Jason, did not by any means encourage me to spend this amount of money on such an old system, although this is a very small company and they, themselves, are not currently doing new installations/replacements. He was prepared to refer me to another vendor if I wanted to replace it. I felt that he was completely honest and thorough in laying out my options. As it worked out, I have every hope of getting considerably more service from this unit. As Jason explained, his ability to pull such a strong vacuum was indicative of no other leaks at all; I had been afraid that there might be additional slow leaks such that I would be assured of having to add refrigerant again next year, at best. By the time Jason finished, the unit was cooling dramatically better than it did after the service call through the warranty company last year. Dramatically. Throughout the episode, Jason was prompt, kept in touch by phone, did what he said, and was very forthcoming in discussing the technical details. I could not have been more pleased, given that I had to face a substantial cost any way I went.

He was friendly and easy to deal with. I appreciated the fact that he came on the afternoon of the same day I called him. He was recommended to me by a friend and he did a good job, and his price are very reasonable.
