I had approximately 25 reels of 8mm film that my Mother had taken in the mid-50s. I had never seen any of the film and was not aware if it was still viewable. Looking at reviews, I saw that Home Video Studio had a number of positive reviews for this service. I took the film to them in April, received an estimate of $300, and was told the process would take about 6 weeks. For this process, they send the 8mm film to a centralized place with special equipment. After 6 weeks I had not heard from them, and I called to check on the status. They checked, returned my call, and informed me it would be another week. Within the week, they called me to let me know my film and DVDs were back. They DVDs are amazing with very clear pictures. I could not imagine a better result.

Review of Home Video Studio, Apex, NC Over about 40 years, we had accumulated many 8 mm black/white and color movies of family activities and events. A number of them had faded significantly. Wanting to preserve and share those memories and avoid further deterioration of the images, we contacted Sharon and Peter Galluzzo?s Home Video Studio from the listing on Angie?s list. As indicated in the name, their business is in their home, where they have high tech equipment for digitizing and recording home movies. Sharon was very friendly and professional in showing me the facilities and discussing a plan to create several DVDs of the films for sharing with family. I submitted 20-30 8 mm films, numbered in chronological order. She reassured me that the processing would be completed and the films and DVDs available for pickup at the end of the month, by Christmas eve, despite the high volume of requests that might be expected for that time of year. However, we were disappointed that by early Christmas eve we still did not have the disks or films. Just as we were about to resign ourselves to not having them available to show family visiting at that time, Peter delivered them to us personally. We enjoyed viewing and reviewing old times. The quality was great. So, the bottom line is that the job was done on time and the result was excellent. The cost was not cheap, but the result was worth the money, and the discount that Sharon gave us initially was appreciated. I did have some concern, however, about how events unfolded. My main concern is that the processing was not done in-house but was shipped off to another site and then shipped back. Had there been some snafu in addressing or shipping, it is possible that our precious films might have been damaged or lost. It would not have been the first time that had happened to us or friends through other companies. Fortunately, it did not. Or, the items might not have been delivered on time. They actually came to the home office late that day, the reason they were delivered personally, for which we were grateful. However, the timing of delivery (without notification) was fortuitous, as we were about to go off caroling when the doorbell rang. Had we done so, what would have been the result? Fortunately, we did not have to deal with that problem.

I have used Home Video Studio previously and both times been extremely happy with the results. Each time, they treated our original recordings with care and made us an amazing product that will help preserve family memories for generations to come.

Transferred video from analog tape to DVD.

Much of the film is of historical signifigance so it's important to archive. They were very professional and did an outstanding job.

They did a great job of transferring some home VHS footage of our children to DVD format. We had four tapes that needed to be transferred. They called us up and let us know that one of the tapes was blank. Oops! But they did not charge us for that one. Look around and you can find their advertisements and coupons. Definitely will do business with them again in the future.

I had 20 year old 8mm digital home videos, but did not have the camera to play them or transfer them to my computer. Home Video Studio was able to take the tapes and create DVDs for me that I can play on DVD player or on my computers. These are priceless memories that they helped recreate for my family. I just found 3 more tapes and will bring these to them as well. It's a little pricey but prices are pretty competitive. They are very nice people and easy to deal with.

Home Video Studio in Apex made nice DVDs of 30 years of home videos, on cassettes, VHS's, 8mm cassettes, etc. Everyone is loving them and saying how much it is worth it, no matter the cost. They made probably 70 - 80 DVDs, so the cost per DVD is quite reasonable. I wish I had done it years before. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me, a very satisfied customer. We were very satisfied with the results and even took more tapes up to get them converted. It was wonderful to be able to watch these tapes again and relive the memories.

The quality of the picture was not as promised. Vendor also promised to put good music with the non-sound tapes. Some of the music was horrendous and did not go along with either beach or Christmas scenes. It sounded more like Polka music. Terrible.

They quality turned out good for what the original movies were. We have enjoyed having them on DVD. The overall experience was satisfactory and we were pleased with the outcome.

I have used them four different times. Everything has always turned out great. They are very personable and seem to know the business pretty well. Their prices are decent for the service you get. The owner is very knowledgable and is able to explain how it all works in detail which I appreciate. I have no complaints with the service.

I thought it was good value for what they did. I priced around the area and they were a little cheaper and nice people to work with. The service seemed to be more personal. It seemed more personable because the office was in their home, they seemed to ask me specific questions about what I wanted in the final product. The quality was very good, they enhanced the quality of some of the older films.

It turned out very well. They do a good job and meet their commitments. However, they are a little bit pricey. I received quality copies of the family videos back and they were on time. The company works out of their house.

Peter and Sharon are very accomodating and very customer service oriented. They have transfered at least 15 of our home videos to DVDs to date and I recently left 10 more off for transfer. The quality of the DVDs is excellent. Our video cameras where not always the best over the years and I was concerned that the problems we had with "tracking" and artifact in the film would be on the DVDs but that was not the case. The DVDs were better than the original films! I highly recommend Home Video Studio and have many other pictures and videos that I will be taking there for preservation on DVDs.
