1. The contract to construct a sunroom, office, and a deck was signed on March 14, 2021. However, the permit was not issued until May 20, 2021, due to several resubmissions. 2. Phillip said that he was a contractor, but we found out through the local government that he was not. 3. He appears to have a cash flow problem as he would never order enough material to complete various phases of the job. There was not enough sheetrock, siding, paint, tiles, or hardwood flooring for the crew to finish a day’s job. 4. He hired cheap subs whose quality of work was terrible. The sheetrock guy in particular left the walls with cracks and dents. The flooring guy did not use a moisture barrier (flooring underlayment) on the installation of the hardwood and the tiles were left ungrutted for over a week, so some tile pieces were shifted and lifted. Also, the tile was installed without a placeholder for the register. The deck was constructed using inside nails, so they have all rusted already. While Phillip never physically did any of the work himself, he did not take the time to inspect the quality of work that was done. 5. He mentioned that he had several jobs going at the same time with the youthful rookie crew and would not show up for 2 weeks at a time and worked sometimes only 2 - 4 hours when they came. Some days he said he was coming and then never showed up or came days later. I must say that the youthful crew was very professional and tried to do their best with the resources that they had. 6. He left a slab of concrete cement and piles of construction debris in the yard. He failed to come and clean it up, even after he quit the job. 7. Be aware when you sign the contract, because he doesn’t follow the terms in the contract, particularly the clause that states: "If any intended changes or any other events beyond the parties' control require adjustments to the Agreement, the parties shall make a good faith to agree on all necessary particulars. Such agreement shall be put in writing, and signed by the parties, and added to this Agreement." Overall, we saw that the construction project was not going to be finished with the efficiency and quality that were promised in the original contract. All communications came to a stop, eight months later from the contract date on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, when Phillip did not respond back to us and did not show up on the job. We had to take ownership of this project in order to get it done. If you hire Philip, it may be fine for a simple job, but he is not a contractor. Please don't be fooled as we were.

"never claimed to be a licensed contractor, and due to non payment as work was being completed was a broken contract agreement on there part. I was always on the job and to the young crew that is my son and nephew that I have had working with me for 6 years now. everyone rides to the job with me I may have to leave to get materials and then I am back on the job . we work hard to provide the best quality to everyone. I don't have to be licensed to get permits for a job in North Carolina. I don't charge 20 precent mark up on everyone's work ."

Phillip was prompt, assembled the chair quickly even though it was fairly involved, and asked for less money than he initially quoted! He stands behind his work with a warranty, I was pleasantly surprised. Very happy with his work...
