In a word - EXCELLENT.
Calvin Jones runs Carpet Connection in Polson, MT. He is an independent and experienced flooring craftsman who was referred to me by another professional I respect who was doing some plumbing work at our house. Cal installed some vinyl flooring per our request during the plumbing changes and did an excellent job. From our contact there and with some checking, his business was one of two we considered using. It was like night and day to deal with one person rather than the several in the larger local flooring store. Talking with both we found him to be less a salesman for a particular floor type than an asset in determining what would best meet our needs and our budget.
There is a feeling of dealing with an honest and professional craftsman who will give you the best he has to offer in terms of both service and merchandise. We later found out he had done a house for a friend several years earlier and they too found him to be excellent as a person and as a provider.
For us there was no rush to get us to commit but he took the time to provide samples and comparisons for the things we were considering. His expertise on why one product might work or might not work for our needs was very helpful. After we had made the decision to go ahead we again had nothing but pleasant experiences. He and his crew were always on time, kept in touch as they proceeded towards completion, were thoughtful and considerate of our needs, cleaned up neatly after each day work and did everything I can think of to put us at ease over this big expenditure.
The final result is everything we were hoping for when we made the commitment to this project. His cost was in the same ballpark as other estimates at the start but he worked in our favor to upgrade details at no additional charge. His work reflects who he is as a person and his knowledge that he knows it reflects that. He takes pride in giving you the best he can.
As a senior citizen but not yet that old I can clearly see that Cal and his work are examples of what we all hope to encounter when we make big ticket purchases.
