I never leave negative reviews, and I consider myself to be a very understanding and flexible person in general. However, after my recent experience with Classic Hardwood Floors, I feel compelled to leave a review that will hopefully help others. My encounter with them started in February of 2021. I hired them to refinish all the wood floors in my home, including a set of hardwood stairs. A bit of background, I used Quickshine for years on my circular saw floors, for which I take full accountability, and it ruined my floors (word to the wise). The owner of Classic Harwood floors came out, to do a test, to confirm whether the process he intended to perform would be effective. He assured me that he could sand them a bit with a chemical without loosing the circular saw character we love. So we agreed to the quote, and enlisted them to do the job. I then hired movers to come and move all the furniture on our first floor which included a master bedroom, large living space, my home office and kitchen/dining area. When they came to do the job they retracted their initial quote, said they would NOT be able to do the job as quoted, and said that we would have to loose the circular saw appearance because they would have to sand them down and completly refinish them. On top of that, I was told it would cost thousands more and require more time. To make things worse, the stairs and landing could not be completed at that time. I am an interior designer, so I realize unexpected issues arise on projects, however I was surprised that the owner didn’t come to this conclusion when he performed the initial test. Because I had the furniture moved out of all of our livable space, I was in a bind and felt I had no choice but to have them complete the first floor. They told us they would not be able to complete the stairs until November….which they then pushed back to January….which they then pushed back to an unknown date….and another unknown date. Finally they called to say that they had NO IDEA when they could return because other jobs were taking longer. I was at my breaking point after waiting over 11 months (!!!) and became very frustrated and as a result I left an emotional voicemail. I regret this, and called to apologize to the office manager. But, then I received a text from her stating that they would no longer complete the job. The contract I signed with them clearly had no value, after thousands spent! It’s extremely disappointing to see a local family owned business not follow through. As I said, I realize projects have unexpected challenges, but the way this was handled was so unprofessional and my stairs are still NOT FINISHED. I hope this review spares someone else the frustration I faced. I have my own interior design business and was hoping to establish a working relationship with them, but sadly this will prevent any future business together.

We're remodeling (a gutting job) a 1940's ranch house that was badly abused by the last owners. We discovered that the oak floors in the living room, bedrooms and hall actually extended into the kitchen and laundry, after pulling up the vinyl tile. Classic Hardwood had done the floors in our present house 14 years ago and did a great job so we called them again. They came on the scheduled day and about 10 days later it was done (that's just how it worked out for us - might go faster in a different situation). The sealer is pretty smelly, and then there are the finish coats that can't have any furniture or anything heavy on them for a couple of weeks, so it's a good thing the house was empty and we weren't living there. To do this right, you can't live in the house for awhile. I thought the price was quite reasonable compared to the cost of new, high-quality flooring. This is much better.
So as regards Classic Hardwood, I would absolutely call them again.

Completely satisfied. They did an awesome job. Almost zero dust from sanding.
