This firm throws a great party for it's local customers, but they are very expensive, and the person who handled my claims (Mary Harris) was a big disappointment.
Costs were higher than I have ever paid for similar service, and about twice the level that I now pay for what I consider higher quality and friendlier service.  When asked at the beginning about fees, Ms. Harris gave me a rough estimate but avoided telling me how the final costs would be calculated.  Only after sending her bill did this accountant acknowledge that she charged a very high hourly rate.  From multiple-staged billing it was clear that she billed for every minute of any phone conversation or email reading time, though she never gave me any hint that she was doing so at the time.  She also charged for time spent researching what I would expect a tax accountant to know already.  I also work for an hourly rate, but I try to make sure my clients know when the clock is on.
There were also significant delays in getting our filing together, though some of this can be blamed on IRS electronic forms not being ready as early as usual.  
After paying the big bills I began learning of a number of errors in our family tax returns.  These were not complicated areas of tax law -- just basic filing.  Now we are having to fix these problems on our own.  
Our tax situation is not very complex, and the service we received was of lower quality than any tax accountant I have dealt with over the past 35 years.  Yet the costs were extraordinarily high.  (And I didn't even get to go to the party.)
