ANOTHER HALF DOZEN RASCALS

Compared to other child care centers this one was by far the best in regards to the experience for my son. For the first time he didn't scream when I left for work. Instead, he was excited to be there with the kids and I felt comfortable with the staff's ability to care for him. It seemed to be a dream come true. The record keeping is also a bit shoddy in my opinion. Angela, the owner, called me because, apparently, we bank at the same place so she called to verify if my check would process and they said it wouldn't so I needed to go give her cash for the month and she'd give me my check back. When I checked with my bank there was more than enough deposited for the check to clear. When I asked for a receipt I was told it would be prepared and put in our file to pick up later. There wasn't any, and I was assured by one of the dippier staff members that I would just get an invoice at the end of the month. My fault for not getting a receipt if they try to pull anything funny I guess. Not only that, but this weekend I got a message from one staff member telling me that I still owed $11 for the month for my CCR copay and then next month it would be $87. I never filled out any paperwork, nor did I authorize them to do so on my behalf. When I called back and asked what was going on, Tara explained that they sometimes fill out paperwork on customers behalf when we don't do it ourselves or have problems getting approval. When I reminded her that I shouldn't be owing anything because of a previous (cash) payment, she said she'd call me back after doing some research. Research showed no paperwork was filled out and that she was calling the wrong people. The staff and the owner, however, is where this place completely fell apart. From day one the owner Angela began her has-to-be-in-control tirade. If you do not fall into her vision of a perfect family then be prepared for some speech or lecture from her directly about how SHE runs her daycare. Out of all the calls I've received, only one has been a polite message. The others, with the exception of one, have been blatantly rude. In fact, they oftentimes, in voice mail messages, demand that I do what they say or go pick up my son immediately. The final straw for me was today. I went to the daycare to speak with her and she was busy, so I explained the problem to the person who was working. Angela was busy and said she'd call me when she had a moment. Two minutes after I got home, I get a call from her but there was no sincerity in her voice when she "apologized" that there were five new families starting at her daycare and that paperwork got mixed up. She then wondered aloud who in their right mind would leave their child with people they didn't trust like I had.
