I am a disabled Air Force veteran of 16 years. I had experience in carpentry general facility repair roofing, minor concrete work locksmithing with schools from my time in the military. I also am capable of welding. I have TIG, mig and smaw. Before my time in the military I work building log homes and stick frame homes while I was in high school. I have recently moved to Troy Montana originally, I'm from Victor Montana. I am looking for work to fill my spare time and make a little bit of extra money on top of my disability. If you have any projects that you would like quoted, please feel free to contact me.

"Dave is reliable. He returns texts and shows up on time which is more than many others. However, he is VERY EXPENSIVE. I supplied the materials. It took him 2.5 hours to complete the job and the charge was $300 to stain the trim on the new sliding glass doors. That's $120/hour. The job was okay. He forgot to stain the top of the trim across the doors and had to be told he'd forgotten it. Also, there was stain left on the glass and metal edges which he told me I could get off with windex. For his prices, he should have cleaned it off himself. I will not be using him in the future."

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Expect excavation below grade, creating a well for access, weatherproofing, and thorough inspections during setup.

Not every home needs window capping. Whether or not you need to cap your windows depends on your climate and window frame materials. Wooden windows should have window capping if moisture is a problem. Arid climates like the Southwest may not need window capping due to low rainfall and low humidity.

Windows can crack for various reasons. Common causes include aging glass, physical impact, and temperature stress. A less common reason is pressure changes, which are far less predictable. Pressure changes often happen because of poor window placement.

Modern windows provide enhanced UV protection, improved heat retention, and cooling efficiency, contributing to overall household energy savings.
