I had the pump replaced on my well May 3rd. I asked him how much this would cost and he said he didn't know until he removed the pump, I asked for a 'ball park' figure and again wouldn't give me an answer, so I went back into the house. After a while the doorbell rang and his partner said that they were done and handed me a bill for $2801.00!! (breakdown; 1 Franklin 1 1/2hp 2 wire pump $1650...one 1 and 1/4 Flomatic check valve $60, 2 heat shrink splice kits @ $12 each for a total of $24.00, 190' #10-4 flat submersible wire $437, 7 one and 1/4" Brass couplings @$15 each total $105, 3 and 1/2 hrs. labor @ $150 an hour $525. Needless to say I was shocked at the price and told him I didn't have $2801, and told him I could give him $1000 now and pay more later. June 14th, I sent him another $600. Yesterday ( 6-27-13 the door bell rang and it was Doug Billmayer and I said Hi, how are you today to which he replied FIRMLY "I WANT MY MONEY"! I said what?, to which he repeated it and I told him I had sent the check, which he said he didn't get and then proceeded to tell his partner to call the office to check and sure enough the check was there. He then started to 'bully' me, I think the correct word is HARASS me and said if I didn't give him the rest of the money $1201, he was going to take the pump out. I couldn't believe it. He then proceeded to go on and say; if you go to WalMart to buy something, do I tell them I don't have the money and take it anyway?!! What I should have said, was that if I were to go to Walmart, I would know what the price was ahead of time. I told him I didn't have the money and I would give him another check next month and he was 'adamant and loud and forceful' and he was not leaving without leaving without the money or he'd take the pump out. What I should have asked, is which part would hed be taking out, since I already paid for 1/2 of it....oh well, I guess the moral of this story is....I should have INSISTED on a written bid first, but this is Kalispell and he's been in the Valley forever and I never thought I'd be treated like this and then openly LIED and said he told me the cost!!! So I'm sharing my story so no one else would have to go through what I did.....I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it if someone came to his house and talked to his wife that way....What goes around comes around.....so BEWARE of Doug Billmayer Drilling....not a nice person to do business with...very unethical....lesson learned....
