The person who came out seemed like a nice enough man and he caught a few things for us to add to our punch list.
However, the individual also missed a lot of things that surprised me looking back in hindsight.  There was snow on the ground and he did a cursory inspection outside the house (at best), but one of the items that was missed had no snow on it and should have been apparent in my opinion.  I have purchased three homes and this was probably the least "energetic/enthusiastic" inspection I have seen to date.  It seemed like he gave us a few trivial things to put on the punch list, but after the fact we ended up with several bigger ticket items to fix on our own dime because they didn't become apparent to us until after the one year had passed for the contractor's warranty.

"Unfortunately I have no record of being at the address these folks are talking about, nor have I ever met them. Sadly there are some limitations involved with a home inspection and it is not a perfect process. Buyers remorse can also be a contributing factor to many of the complaints a home inspector receives and I think a complaint from a year and seven months after the fact might fall into the category of buyers remorse. Had the particular inspector known of the issues of concern earlier there may have been a chance to resolve the said issue. A bit unfair of a review and I think the comments by this particular person should be removed due to the fact that i don't even know them and have never done an inspection at the particular address. Also, I have only been in business since January of 2011."

He seemed hurried the entire time, spent time on things that were pretty straight forward and skipped a lot of things that took a little more time or effort (like running the appliances or looking under the house). He told us we had some potentially very dangerous wiring in the bathroom. I had an electrician come out who explained this was not uncommon and it was fine. Had he taken the time to look under the house, he might have saved me a couple thousand dollars in plumbing expenses. It thought I was doing due diligence in having him come out but it was wasted money which gave a me a false sense of security.

"Dear Member First off I would like to extend an apology toward your for being less than satisfactory in your perception of my services in regards to your home inspection. However, after reviewing your inspection report I have some concerns to the validity of your claim against me. Your major complaint in the review was that I did not spend a significant amount of time underneath the house and you had to pay a significant amount of money for some plumbing repairs post purchase of the property. It clearly states in the plumbing page of your inspection report that there where many plumbing issues to deal with. Underneath the house i found a water leak to deal with. I detected low water pressure throughout the house and recommended that a further evaluation be done by a qualified plumber. I recommended that you budget to replace the galvanized piping which can be a major contributor to low water pressure. The water heater did not work and was wired unsafely at the time of the inspection. There was no main drain vent pipe noted and I recommended the septic system be pumped and inspected by a licensed professional. Any one of these issues, if addressed prior to purchase of the property, may have saved you significant amounts of time and money. I have been a home inspector for many years and I know for a fact that not all of my home inspection reports actually get read. Customer service is something that I pride myself on and I know that I cannot please all of the people all of the time but I do my best to provide my clients with the information they need to make an informed decision. If I can be of service to you in the future I would greatly appreciate the chance to redeem myself, although I believe in my heart that I provided you the necessary information to deal with the issues that you brought forth in your review of my services."
