Our dog is large, and I had to bring two of our small children with me to drop the dog off. I struggled to hold onto the leash, hold a baby, and watch a toddler, and no one offered to even take the dog's leash when we walked in the door. They wanted me to fill out forms while holding everything myself. While they certainly aren't obligated to help, our former vet in another state took our dog back and crated her so that we weren't trying to juggle everything. The customer service just seemed lacking in that regard.
While trying to juggle the dog and the kids and fill out forms, the receptionist informed me that they require a $100 deposit for all new patients. Unfortunately, in my rush to the office, I had left my checkbook and debit cards at home. This, of course, was my fault. But it was frustrating, because I was not told ahead of time that I would have to make this deposit. When loading the dog and the kids in the car that morning, I realized my missing money. But with a crying baby, I decided to head out the door anyway to drop the dog off, since I figured I could pay when I picked the dog up later in the day. I would have taken the extra time to run in and get the money before struggling to get everyone out the door had I known a deposit was required. So they recommended that, after all my effort, we reschedule so that I could pay the deposit. Again, I think that is poor customer service. We ended up loading everyone back and the car and leaving, and I rescheduled with a different vet.
So know this -- If you are new, bring $100 as a deposit when you drop your pet off. If you want to save money and not deal with that hassle, go to Alpine Animal Clinic, which only charges $63.00 for the entire visit, including vaccines, and you can pay there when you pick up your dog. No initial deposit required.
I'm sure they are competent vets and nice people, but we were happier elsewhere at Alpine, which had better prices and customer service.
Unfortunately our previous kitty, 18-year old Digger - a long-time patient of the clinic, developed renal failure and, despite above and beyond efforts by the clinic, we lost him. The compasion and care provided Digger in their efforts to save him, and to us when we learned we had lost our old friend, went way beyond professional requirements.
Highly qualified, compasonate and friendly veternarians, compasionate and friendly staff, great care for their patients, quiet and clean quarters - what's not to like?
Will we continue to patronize the clinic and would we recommend them to anyone? You betcha!
Seriously best veterinary office in town! Everyone should take their pets here.
