Todd Clark was a really nice guy who sent someone to install the heater when he said he would. The fellow did a first rate job of actually installing the water heater. These guys are skilled plumbers.
Now the bad:
Todd came to look at the job, then sent his young relative to do the job. Not a deal breaker, but unexpected.
The job took a long time to schedule because our job was low on their priority list. There was a cold snap, and our job was postponed to handle more pressing issues. Sort of understandable, but still, one doesn't want to be pushed down the list.
The young man who installed the heater was fast and efficient, but he left a big mess for me to clean up in our basement. The heater is in our laundry room which has a painted concrete floor. He dumped a bunch of sediment on the floor, which ran to the floor drain, and on the way left a sludgy mess. He then said in something of a confrontational tone, "I'll leave this for you to clean up unless you want to pay a plumber's hourly rate for clean up." I did elect to clean it up myself, but...
I completely understand if you're having a bad day. But this was disrespectful. He might have said, "This job is messy and our policy is not to charge for clean up because most people elect to do it themselves."
I was hoping this recommended company would be one we could call on again, but will think twice now. Not because of the price or skill level, but I just felt like the installer did not appreciate the work. Too bad. Todd was a great guy.
There was a small drop of water forming on one fitting. They came back very quickly and replace the faulty valve.
He recommended not replacing the water line to the refrigerator that had been recommended. He explained that for our usage the existing copper would last longer than the flexible. Thus saving us both labor and hardware costs.
Plumber looked at ceiling and at bathtub faucet. He explained that the fixture is one that is no longer used due to the fact it allows water to run down into the wall. He felt this, and not a leaking pipe, was the reason for the discoloration in my ceiling. He explained to me how to apply a silicone sealant around the fixture which would prevent the problem.
I sealed the fixture and it seems to have fixed the issue.
We had one mis-communication on the original estimate which was communicated to us as soon as it was discovered and resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. As owners, we are new to remodel projects and associated costs. It helped very much to have someone working on the job that was experienced, fair, and helpful.
They may be booked out a ways but if you can get them to do the job then you are set.
