I have a damaged roof and there was a possibility that it was caused by some recent storms that we have had. We had water leaking into our bathroom. This contractor was called by the insurance company. He came to my home and put a ladder up to my house without even bothering to knock on my door. When I went outside to speak to him he told me that the insurance company had called him to give them a quote. I allowed him on my roof and into my house to look in my attic to see the damages. His two 'helpers' climbed on my roof and walked around on it for about 15-20 minutes measuring and 'inspecting'. I was told later that he told my insurance company that I was rude and "ran him off", that I didn't let him on the roof and told them I had already given the job to another contractor. Then he lied and told the insurance agent that it was woodpecker damage. First off - I have several witnesses, neighbors and friends that saw him and his guys on my roof measuring and I was extremely polite to him. Second - there aren't many woodpeckers where I live - I double checked with the wildlife people at the state - only a couple sightings in my area in the last 5 years or so and I have never seen or heard one where I live. (And how exactly did he know it was woodpecker damage if I didn't let him on the roof?) Finally, I did tell him that I was seeking other bids - but that was because I have to; insurance companies always require more than one bid for things like this. I have since found out that he has a grudge against one of the other contractors that I mentioned. Another contractor has looked at the roof and is unsure what caused the damage, but that it is recent and looks as though a hole was drilled in my roof by someone - it makes me wonder whether this guy caused more damage to my roof purposely. I can't prove anything mind you, but now that I see a bigger picture it really makes me wonder about it. I won't be using this person ever and I WILL be telling everyone that he not only lied to keep another contractor from possibly getting a job, but that he called my integrity into question when he has only met me for those 20 short minutes. I certainly learned enough to tell everyone to stay far away from this guy and not to trust him with any of their construction needs.
Description of Work: Came to give a quote for roof replacement.
