We were moving into a new home and had about 1000 sq ft. of tile we wanted installed. We were using an industrial grout, which does not require sealing. Since that was a specialty item our tile salesman, interviewed Jeff Tuttle to make sure they knew how to use the grout. Tuttle assured the salesman he was familar and knew how to use it.
Tuttle gave us a bid, we accepted and paid half, we did ask if he would be supervising and he said yes. We never saw him again.
His workers were timely, respectful, and had some great creative ideas. Layout of tiles went great, then came time for the grout. Since they said they would be grouting, we did not come out the first day but did the second. The installers were very frustrated, told us they never had worked with this "stuff" and it was awful. Uneven, divits, holes in grout. But they were done. We immediatley contacted Tuttle, he said they would fix it. The installer walked around with us, and I was putting post notes where each spot was, he said, "Nah don't do that"...then gouged the grout with a utility knife, each place a repair was needed. We were headed out of town, recontacted Tuttle he assured us the repairs would be made while we were gone. When we got back nothing had been done. So called again, he sent out a junior member of the team with instructions to fill in the spots with "regular grout" which we now know does not adhere to industrial grout, it was a different brown, so where it does adhere it just looks dirty.
Also, installers, put "kick plates" up on the baseboards in the kitchen with same adhesive as on the floor, it apparently needs to be a different adhesive, because within 3 months they were falling off.
Our biggest issue was the lack of concern, or customer service exhibited by Mr. Tuttle. Even the junior worker who came out to do the final repairs, kept apologizing, nothing ever from Tuttle.
We had another installer come out to see about ripping it up and relaying that would cost $5000, then a whole costly reinstall. Just not feasible.
