Title Companies
Summit Valley Title Company had a contract with a friend of mine to include property taxes on top of the purchase price on a property he bought. I was with him because he has no experience with real estate transactions. They did not pay the taxes and can't explain where the extra $3k went. The buy/sell agreement clearly states the purchase price and additional taxes they should have paid. He's the process of suing for it but they won't honor the contract or admit their error. This is his first and probably only home he'll ever own and can't afford all this extra money for lawyers. He went through the title company precisely to make sure all money went where it was supposed to and now he may lose his house because of this nightmare. As a real estate investor in Butte, it makes me sick to know that Summit Valley title company won't admit fault or honor their buy/sell agreement.
