After a couple of days, the business e-mailed me stating that my bicycle tune-up had been completed. I went down to pick up the bicycle and they brought it up front for me. When the clerk rang up the bill, I provided him with the Spoke Shop gift card my wife had given me. The clerk ran it threw about five (5) times, each time saying "I am not getting anything on this card." After the fifth time, the clerk went into the back and came back with whom I think was the manager. The manager tried twice to use the card and on the second time was successful. He told me that the card had "only $36.00 on it." I told him that there must be some error as this card had the complete balance of $60.00 on it and had never been used by anyone. I decided to call my wife to confirm that 1) the card was for $60.00 and 2) it had not been used and she confirmed this. The card was purchased about 8 months prior to the aforementioned date and had never been used by anyone . The manager confirmed that the cards are good for one year and said "I have no idea why this card only shows $36.00." I asked the manager if he could tell me when the other $24.00 had been used and he purported that he checked "the system" and could not find any usage of the card. This card was exclusively for use at The Spoke Shop. The manager or clerk at no time offered to do anything to assist me with this matter and I had to pay the full price of $59.00 for the tune-up ($36.00 on the card and a check for the difference of $23.00. There was never any apology or concern or attempt to resolve this issue from the manager or clerk relative to this incident. In fairness to The Spoke Shop, they did a nice job on the tune-up but I feel I never should have had to pay for an obvious error by The Spoke Shop.
Description of Work: I brought my bicycle into The Spoke Shop for a "tune-up" as I have purchased bicycles here in the past and had never had an issue with The Spoke Shop. The bicycle had not been tuned up in 15 years and the timing was great because my wife had given me a $60.00 gift card from The Spoke Shop for this business to use. The quoted cost of the tune-up was $59.00 and I left the bicycle with them for them to do the work.
