was for a $50K Steinway & Sons piano, and to make matters even more scary,
the piano was going to be shipped to a family in Russia. In reality, everything
was on the up-and-up. Louis had a real buyer that I would have never found or
trusted on my own. He took the first risk, by getting the money from Russia.
After taking his agreed-upon commission, he wired the money to us into a newly created bank account in our name. He allowed us to wait 48 hours for the wire
to clear and then we were able to safely move the money into our normal
account, which gave us more security. A few days later shippers picked up the
piano. It has now been a couple of weeks since the transaction, so we still
don’t know if the Russians got their piano okay, but for us we are happy, we
are safely paid, and we are moving forward without the piano.
Others should trust Louis as well, and just make sure (as we
did) that the paperwork is correct. He will do what you sign with him to do. He
will also bring international buyers that you may not be able to attract (or
you may not want to risk dealing with) as well. Great job Louis, and thanks for
selling my piano. We hope the Russians love it as much as we did.
