About us

Stateline Animal Clinic has been serving pet owners of north central Mississippi and southwest Tennessee for over thirty five years. The clinic is conveniently located off of Airways Blvd in Southaven Mississippi and is easily accessed from Interstate 55. The focus of our multi-doctor practice is on canine and feline medicine (treating dogs and cats), but 'pocket pets' such as hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and rabbits are also treated. A wide range of services are offered, including preventative health care, dental care, soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, ultrasonography, radiology, and boarding. Grooming is available at Stateline Groom Shop, located adjacent to the clinic. Our goal is to provide high quality veterinary service while maintaining a caring and friendly atmosphere.

I used them several years ago. They were very good. I had absolutely no problem. I would highly recommend Stateline. The staff was very professional as well. Their prices were also very reasonable as compared to other providers I have used.

UPDATE: I got a call from the office manager on Monday after he saw my AL review. He apologized for my experience and gave me a refund for the tests, so I upgraded my marks for responsiveness from D to B. I chose this clinic because of Angie's List and drove to Southaven even though there are other clinics that are closer. I've never had an animal before, so I didn't know what to expect price-wise and was leery about getting ripped off or having my cat over-prescribed. 
I called because my cat was obviously sick the night before. They said I didn't need an appointment, so I drove over. The receptionist burped while she was signing me in (she jokingly apologized--that was fine, if not super-professional) and then I waited nearly an hour (again, fine, it looked really busy and they looked like they were doing what they could to get the line moving). I brought the cat's papers from the last vet it had been to and gave them to the receptionist, but when I got back to the exam room, the tech started asking me about shots. Turns out they hadn't been included in the file. Ok, fine again, mistakes happen, a little unprofessional but whatever. The notes that the receptionist had made on my file also weren't accurate, so I corrected the first tech about the problem. 
Here's where the trouble starts: A second tech came in and asked me about shots (again) and then asked if I wanted to do blood work. I've never had a pet before, so I say, "I don't know, should I?" Then she starts talking about feline leukemia and "cat AIDS" (yes, that's what she said), so I say O.K. to the blood work. 
She takes my cat (who is very freaked-out at this point) out of the carrier a little roughly (ok, fine, they're professionals, she just has a firm hand, that's all) and leaves the room. I leave as well to go to the restroom, and when I come back, it takes me a minute to realize the tech has already been back into the room and put my very disturbed cat back in its carrier. She must've thought I was still gone, because it was at that point that I heard her say, very distinctly from  the other side of the door, "So we have the [test] going and I talked her into the blood work so I'm going to get that started." 
This vet tech "talking me into" something doesn't exactly inspire confidence that it was a necessary test. I am so upset by hearing this, hurt really--feeling very taken-advantaged of--that it takes me a minute to gather my courage and go into the hall to find someone to stop the blood test. 
The girl I meet says, "Oh, it's already done." 
"It's already done?" I question her, because not very much time has passed. 
"Oh, well . . . it's already going," she says. 
"So . . ."
"So it's a little late," she starts backing up, "Sorryyy."
I go back in and sit down and my mind is reeling because I don't even know how much it cost and it just seemed like such a mean thing to do and ESPECIALLY to say--so that I could HEAR it!
The vet came in, they didn't know what was wrong with my cat, but prescribed a general remedy that should be able to take care several of the problems that might have been causing the illness. I helped hold the cat (who was just REALLY freaked-out by everything happening) and when she was done, went to put it back in the carrier. I had some more questions (and was working up the courage to tell her how rude I thought it was that the vet tech would talk about a client like that) and when I looked up, her hand was on the doorknob. "Well alright then!" aaand she was gone. SHE DIDN'T EVEN DISCUSS THE RESULTS OF THE BLOOD WORK WITH ME! No joke. 
At the receptionists' desk I paid $92 total for the visit, the test we were there for, and meds--$38 of that was the blood work. (Don't worry, I think my cat's okay. It says "FELV-NEG/FIV-NEG," so I'm guessing that's good, but I'm certainly not a vet and wish one had been able to interpret this for me since I paid for it.) I paid for everything since I'm a wuss and lack assertiveness in situations with strangers who are treating me poorly. 
Final note: I thought there was an Angie's List coupon for 10% off when I looked this clinic up, but don't have a printer or a smart phone. I mentioned as much to the eructating receptionist, who said she couldn't give it to me. "Sorryyy . . ." It also says "Please review us on Angie's List" at the bottom of the receipt, so I have been more than happy to do so, and I think they were put on notice that that was a possibility.
I'm not assertive, that's a personal problem that I acknowledge, but I don't think I should have to throw my weight around or demand things. Shouldn't I just be treated fairly and kindly and asked if I have any more questions? I guess, to this clinic, I would suggest taking into consideration the fact that (a) your doors are not sound-proof and (b) some people don't get mad and yell when things go wrong . . . some people are quietly upset and take to Angie's List. It makes me a little uncomfortable right now to post grades this low, but I sat in the exam room and tears welled-up in my eyes because I was so frustrated, so--I think it's fair.

First off I want anyone reading this to know that I am super anal about anyone touching my dogs.  My dogs are treated as humans in my house and I expect them to be treated as such. I am in my mid-fifties and have raised dogs all my life.  I went with my sister-in-law to this vet to have her dog's paw rechecked for an infection.  I just moved to Southaven from Florida so thought it would be a great way to check out the place before I brought one of my dogs.  First off, the smell inside was so offensive I didn't know if I would be able to stay inside the clinic.  It appeared to be an older clinic and I felt it was a bit dirty.  However, once we got in the exam room and I met with the female vet, she was awesome.  She seemed to know her stuff, got down on the floor with the dog, was very easy to talk to, and explained everything to us.  Gave us 4 prescriptions and made sure my sister-in-law understood all the directions.  If it wasn't for the smell inside the clinic and it not seeming really clean, I would probably use this clinic.  Due to this, I will not be back with any of my dogs.

Stateline Animal Clinic is by far the BEST veterinarian I have ever used - and I have used a lot! The staff is very caring and professional-I had to make a very heart breaking choice for a beloved pet about 2 years ago - the doctors and staff were very supportive and you can tell that they not only care about your pets but about you also.  At the present time we have 4 dogs and  2 cats and they all have been taken care of by Stateline from the very beginning.  The prices are more than fair and the care is excellent.  I recommend Stateline Animal Clinic to everyone!

They are better then good. They are good people. I carried my dog there because he was choking on a bone and they had no questions they took him back right away. All the vets are great, they don't sell you things you don't need. I would highly recommend them.
