Vashon Tanksley Painting

Pleasant Quote process. Very nice gentleman. Quote didn't specificy nor was it mentioned in a follow-up call about this line item on the quote (materials cost not included on quote) that the client should provide their own paint. Showed up to paint with no paint. Was a good sport though and they went and had paint made (as it should have been prior to arriving for work). Shutter paintwork was excellent, house paint work was sloppy (lots of drips onto brick and lots of overspray from their paint sprayguns. Front door painting was attrocious...i mean REALLY bad. Had to have them come out on several occassions to correct (as much as they could) these issues. There was overspray paint on every window upstairs giving them a dusty appearance. They did come out during last corrective visity and scrape off paint from top windows. We will have to replace the front screen where paint was dripped. Front door is satisfactory but shows lots of brush strokes when up close. When we'd be asked to be at home for "2 hours" it was more like 5 hours. Had to be home for the corrective paint job on the front door too as door had to be open and had to cure again. So, this was more time away from work. That sounds like a personal matter but when you pay to have it done right the first time, you only expect to have to do it one time. Bottom Line: Vashon I believe does good work as well as cares about his reputation and his work. It was, in my opinion, most likely one of his staff that did such sloppy work. Vashon is a nice man and I wish him well but I cannot in good conscience recommend him to anyone for a paint job as the experince was not satisfactory. For the 'cut-corners' and corrective work, we probably should have insisted on a discount from the original price.
