Safe Home Inspection

I used this home inspector because an acquaintance refereed him to me. I know the improtance of having a new home inspected to save me time and money down the road. When asking for references I was assured that Gary had all the proper equipment to check not only what anyone could see but for mold, heat, moisture, and other things that aren't visible to the naked eye. When Gary showed up he didn't even have a ladder to get up on the roof and check the shingles, and flashing around the chimney. He didn't catch several simple things such as our gas burnign fireplace was listed as wood burning and many other over-sites gave me an uneasy feeling. I hired another inspector who found about $300.00 worth of items that were missed. As a result of the sub par inspection I stopped payment on the check for Gary. I sent him a letter explaining what had happened, everything that was missed and letting him know i wanted to renegotiate. a different payment. Because he is on the board of home inspectors he let me know that legally he didn't have to perform all the other items that the second inspector did and that he could take me to court over this. As a result I paid the 325 + a 10.00 stopped check fee. I was disappointed in his lack of professionalism and his lack of care and detail in my inspection. Everyone has now told me that I have over paid for this inspection and I will not recommend him to anyone else.
