PEARL TIRE & AUTO

A few days after hitting an unexpected (and very deep) pothole, my tire developed a bulge in the side. When I called around to various tire places, they all said I'd need to buy 2 tires for the particular kind I have - that to buy just one wasn't enough because of wear, etc. Lucky for me, the places I called all said they'd have to special order the tire. Hoping to not have to wait, I decided to call some other places. When I called Pearl Tire and Auto, the guy asked me, "How many miles do you have on those tires?" (No one in all my five or six calls had asked that question) When I answered less than 20,000, he indicated that I could probably replace just the one tire, since I probably didn't have much wear on them. To be sure, he asked me to drive the car in. When I arrived, they took a look and said that a single new tire would not cause any handling problems since my existing tires had little wear and had been rotated. They special ordered the tire at a lower price than the big chains had quoted me. In a couple of days it was there. And when I went to get it I was happily surprised that the price quoted was for the whole deal - installation and everything. The other places would quote the tire, and then add in several other charges for installation, balancing, etc. The waiting room at Pearl Tire & Auto is not exactly the Hilton, but the guys are nice, answer questions, and tend to your car quickly.
