The vet who sees my , who is a great and capable vet.  However, the clinic is owned by another vet.  The charges have always been high however this time they were not  close to being reasonable.   Not only are the charges not consistent with previous charges, i.e. exam charges, but it appears the charges were made to see  how high the bill could go.  Another example is a charge for the rabies tag.  I have had a pet of some kind for nearly 65 years and have never been charged for the tag on top of a rabies shot about double what previous shots had been.  Apparently they have had complaints about their charges before as they had a lady that gives estimates of what your bill be before any work is done.  The bill was double the estimate.  I was unable to have a heart worm test on the dog because of the fee, which was more than double what I had paid with my previous vet who retired due to illness.
I was able to get the test done by another vet for  nearly the same price as what my previous vet had charged- $18.50.
The bottom line is I can not afford to take by dog and cat to this vet anymore due to unreasonable charges!!!!

We were told she had two loose teeth that needed to be removed, but no other health issues to be concerned about.  A week later, our cat was again pawing at her mouth, lethargic, diarrhea, had no appetite, and had matted fur.  We brought her back in, and we were again told that she just needed more teeth pulled out.  She was about 12 years old, and we were assured this was perfectly normal, and there was no cause for further concern, although more teeth may need to be pulled in the future.  No blood work was done, no other diagnostic tests were run on her.  We were also told to put her on  a special (and expensive) diet to help her gain weight back with food that would be easy on her teeth.  After bringing her home, she was still pawing at her mouth and showing signs of discomfort, diarrhea.  In short, nothing seemed to have changed.

Two weeks later, a maintenance person at our apartment complex accidentally let her out the door without realizing it.  She was attacked by a wild dog and a kind neighbor found her.  She took our cat to HER vet of choice, who immediately ran blood work and determined our cat was well into the 2nd phase of feline AIDS.  We contacted this new vet, and she explained that all the treatments from the  previous vet did nothing to help.  She asked why the other vet didn't run any bloodwork, since our cat showed 8 of the 10 most common symptoms of a cat suffering from feline AIDS.

I called the vet we had been using and asked the exact same question, since the vet we were seeing was specifically a "cat expert."  She had no answer for me, and we have never been back.  I do NOT recommend you trust these people with your pets whatsoever.

Crossgates Vet Clinic is awesome!  Axel (my dog) loves to go see everyone - he is always greeted with smiles and a good belly rub!  When needed they do a thorough checkup and let me know how he is doing --- apparently he needs to lay off the peanut butter!!! LOL....I also use their boarding/kennel services which he also loves.  He is well taken care of and loves his bath at the end of the visit.  I will definitely recommend them to others and continue using their service!

Response from Crossgates Veterinary Clinic
"Ms. [removed member name] has a beautiful 3 1/2 years old domestic long hair cat named Hallie. We saw Hallie first in February 2011 with the symptoms of constipation, a condition common in long haired cats. She also had a circular skin lesion from allergic dermatitis. She was given an enema, Her diet was changed to help with the allergic dermatitis. She had a bowel movement before discharge. Hallie was prescribed a stool softener and lubricant to aid in regularity. Ms. [removed member name] was instructed to return the next day for another enema if needed. Hallie returned and enemas were preformed and the condition resolved. Ms. [removed member name] has purchased laxatone and prescribed food 5x over the next two years until her last visit in May of 2013. Long hair cats have a continued problem with hair balls normally and cats with allergic dermatitis that are constantly licking are more prone to blockage. The preventative measure that we took appeared to have worked until now. Ms. [removed member name] last visit May 2013 was to purchase laxatone. Here complaint was not until 2 1/2years later October 2013. She must have had a bad day. I wish she had called me."

.They go above and beyond to get your animals taken care of. The animal care is number 1 versus the cost. The staff is very friendly and always greets you when you come in. They call to remind me when I have an appointment.
