"Mr. Gregson requested service on his A/C unit in July, 2019. We dispatched a technician and discovered the unit to not have enough R-22 to perform well. Our technician put 3 pounds of R-22 in Mr. Gregson's unit to get the unit to cool, and advised Mr. Gregson that he would be back the following Monday to perform a leak check on Mr. Gregson's unit. A subsequent leak check and 5 more pounds of R-22 discovered no leaks and Mr. Gregson was offered a proposal to replace the unit. Mr. Gregson never responded. After we sent 14 statements requesting payment, we turned Mr. Gregson over to our attorney for collection."
The workers picked up their mess for the most part, though I did see some PVC pieces laying in the insulation. Overall I was pleased and would use them again. I called at 9 am and they were at the house by 1 pm. They were finish around 4:30 pm. I did not receive a bill (it would be mailed to me) but the employee said it would be approx $130. Can't beat that if it is true. I spent an entire Sunday trying to fix the drain and was miserable and failed to fix the problem, so to have 3 guys spend over 2 hours fixing it for $130 is great relief. I will update if the bill is much more than anticipated.
Having recently purchased my first home, I asked him a few of questions related to regular care and maintenance, and he answered all of my questions and provided me with lots of information. From placing the call to the end of the job was about an hour.
I was very pleased with the entire experience and will definitely use them again.
I was a little disappointed that the installation team did not have the ability (or the inclination) to install the new, wider coolant tubing through the existing route, widening holes as needed. Instead, the new tubing and insulation goes up the outside of the house and into the attic, which is unsightly. I hope to come up with a better solution in the future.
In all, the new unit works well - the variable speed fan makes a big difference in the noise level when the unit is running, and our upstairs has been cool and comfortable for nearly a year.
For service, I would not hesitate to contact Walker again. For installation, the furnaces they offered had very sophisticated computer controls to the furnace. There is a price to those computer controls that we were not willing to pay.
