Damages to walls, baseboards, door trim, shoe
molding cut incorrectly, glue on floors and transitions, floors installed in a
manner other than the recommendation by the flooring company. Wood floor padding
lower quality than the one purchased (purchased pad NOT the one installed under
flooring). Furniture not covered during installation and exposed to dirt and
concrete dust. Flooring not left clean and excess glue left on flooring and
transitions with floor prep left on baseboards and door frames. Floor planks cut
exposing raw edges that are lifted. Requested independent flooring inspector
review the flooring installation but company will not pay for this
inspection.
UPDATE: As of October, 2014
Estimated one day job ended up taking twice as long due to installer not wanting to remove entry hall tile by hand. Wasted over half a day waiting on a machine to remove tile in a small 4 x 8 foot entry hall.
Installer and crew created over $2,000 in damages to walls, baseboards, door trim and marble threshold plus more.
Flooring was not installed correctly thus voiding manufacturers warranty. Floating floor not able to 'lock together' correctly due to cuts made in the middle of the room. Floated quickcrete type concrete solution in entry hall after removing tile due to damage to slab. Flooring in entry hall sounds like you are walking on crushed rock because the quickcrete type concrete solution was too thin and not left to dry an adequate amount of time before placing flooring over it.
Installer removed door in entry hall and did not notify homeowner who had clothes in closet. Proceeded to remove tile in entry hall exposing clothes in closet to dirt and debris.
Home was left with adhesive on floor transitions and randomly throughout home on new wood floor. Baseboards were left smeared with flooring compound. Thick dirt and dust created by removal of the tile was left for homeowner to clean up knowing that homeowner had a breathing problem. Did not bring shop vacs for dirt and debris removal as requested.
A contract was not offered and a warranty on the flooring was denied (after installation).
Approximate costs to remove and replace flooring exceeds $6,000.
Repeated phone calls to contractor yielded no results. Tried negotiating repairs via email which, again, yielded no results. Contacted the Better Business Bureau for help in mediating the damages which yielded no results.
Filed claim against contractor in court for damages and loss. The judge ruled in our favor yet, as of this date (over 6 months since installation), we have not been compensated for any of the damages or the flooring. Homeowners are still living with damaged flooring as they are waiting for all court dates and appeals to expire before doing repairs in order to maintain evidence in the event that future court appearances become necessary.
Found out, in court, that although Olive Branch Carpet advertises that they are licensed in the state of Tennessee, there is no license for them on file. Olive Branch Carpet could not produce a Tennessee business license in court.
