The company ordered the part, which took longer than expected to arrive. The truck was dropped off and in a week they had replaced the lever that latches the seat into different positions. The truck was picked up by a friend. When I collected it from the friend, the seat was no longer laying down onto the back seat, but was still laying too far back for me to reach the steering wheel. The friend took it back and after a few minutes of tinkering, was again told it was fixed. When I came to pick it up, same story, I could not reach the steering wheel from the reclining position and couldn't get the seat upright. I took it back to the shop myself and was told that the seat was fixed. Honestly, the owner and I spent 40 minutes going back and forth about the definition of "fixed." Finally, I just got in the truck and reached for the steering wheel. The guys standing around all chorused "Ohhhhh." The owner still assured me that the lever was "fixed" it just wasn't where I wanted it, and that the real problem was the bottom of the seat, which would require other parts. He then suggested if I would be "a little bit nicer" he would be more motivated to reach a solution. I thought I was doing really well not to raise my voice or use sarcasm, but apparently I wasn't being nice after all. Again with the argument about the definition of fixed. I wasn't asking for someone with longer arms to be able to drive my truck, I need to drive it. Since the owner did not respond to my suggestion to take his part back and refund my money (even partially), I waited for more than an hour for them to work out a solution. When I left, the seat was close enough to upright for me to be able to drive it safely, but within 15 minutes it had eased back into the dangerously reclined position. So here I am, with a seat propped up by 2x4s minus $165.00.
