I had significant hail damage back at the first of April 2013. I was not aware of the extent of the damage. One day about a week after a Ridge Valley (later referred as RV) guy stops by and shows me the damage. He tells me about RV and what all they will do. He said RV would take off the old roof and replace the tar paper, roofing, rubber boots and put new metal vents on the heater and water heater along with painting them. He said the RV crew were all certified Americans and that they would all be wearing blue RV shirts. He seems to be knowledgeable about roofing and damage so we exchange numbers and I call my insurance to schedule an adjuster to come out. The adjuster comes out and agrees on the damage. I call the RV guy back and he acts a little weird. He says he's with a customer and will call me back. The next day another RV guy calls me and says the first guy doesn't work there any longer. This new guy seems nice and knowledgeable and also mentions the new heater vents. I sign the contract. My neighbor also was using them and he was about to get his new roof any day. The RV guy said they were waiting for the new metal vents to come in. My neighbor gets his new roof. It looks descent from a ways off. I didn't have a chance to talk to my neighbor at that period. On Wednesday of that week the RV guy calls and says his crew can come the next Monday. We set it up. That Saturday (two days early) the RV crew comes knocking on my door at 7AM. There isn't a blue shirt to be seen. They are all Mexicans and don't look legal. The one that came to the door barely spoke English. I told them to go ahead. They took off the old roof, put on the new one. It appears that they did a pretty good job from what I can see. They caulked the nail holes (something Lowes didn't do on my last roof). They put on new rubber boots but DIDN'T put on new metal vents as promised for the heater/hot water heater. They did paint them. A couple days went by and I went into my storage room for something (where my water heater is) and I noticed the vent that vents the water heater up to the roof was completely off the water heater. It was about 8 inches over to the side of the vent hole in the water heater. The RV crew had pulled up the vent and not made sure it was seated back. I gasped thinking about my gas heater vent. I called a plumber and he came out and fixed both vents and actually went on the roof and said RV didn't properly seat the water heater vent. He seated it and caulked it. It left some unpainted area on the vent. The plumber costs me about $70. I then later talked to my neighbor. Same thing with the vents?not new or re-seated and he did have some quality issues with his roof. About a week later the RV guys calls me on getting his check. I go on the roof and make sure all's well as far as I can see. He comes out and I go over all the things that went wrong. He was apologetic. Of course he says that they'll send a guy out in a couple of days to paint the vent. I knew he was lying. Now in July they still have not come back out LOL. Overall, they did a fair job. I would NOT use them again and I would advise anyone to use someone else.
Description of Work: They took off my current roofing and re-roofed my house.
