The owner of this company was hired to repair an air conditioner unit that was not cooling my house. He stated the problem was the two coils were leaking and needed to be replaced and freon put back into the unit. He quoted me a price of 1200.00. He replaced the two coils and supposedly put more freon into the unit. The unit worked for two days. On the third day, it was not cooling and I called him back (citing a five year warranty on the coils and a one year labor warranty). He came back out to the house (I was not home at the time) and supposedly checked everything and according to him, he was not sure what the problem was. He conveniently left me a 60.00 service call bill on the kitchen table. After several phone conversations with him and not getting anywhere, I decided to call another company to come and take a look at the unit. The second company repairman was at the house less than five minutes, quickly diagnosed the problem, repaired the problem and charged me 150.00. The second repairman told me that if Mr. Lancaster (owner of the first repair company) had REALLY checked the unit, then he would have quickly seen where the leak was. It is my assumption that Mr. Lancaster did not exhaust all possibilities in helping to find the problem and inflated his price immensely. Hence, I am very unsatisfied with Lancaster Heating and Cooling. After several attempts to get a written receipt stating the terms of the warranty, I still do not have it. I will be pursuing legal action against this company. What makes these repairmen think they can just scam consumers without any consumer recourse?
