I had 3 estimates and we went with them because they were local and a large company and then they were insured and bonded. I had to make follow up phone calls to be able to get all the information and to get them out here and have all the scheduling done. Their communication was a little lacking.

The GAF shingles employed on my roof seem to be an excellent product and, as seen from the street at present, the roof looks very good. However, as always, "the devil is in the details". Although my contract stated that the GAF products would be installed "according to manufacturer's specifications", in the initial installation those specifications and standards were not followed in many cases. For example, shingles were fastened with fewer nails than promised and nails were frequently overdriven or left high; the drip edge was wider than specified, sometimes almost by a factor of 2; the valley shingles were not clipped or sealed; the specified starter shingles were not used along the back eave; damaged shingles were installed. The agreement to limit access was ignored. The new shingles were installed on 12-7-12 and my inspection on 12-9-12 revealed about a dozen problems with the installation. Four return visits over about 10 days were required to address most of those problems. I was assured that problems were resolved when they were not. The roof, as installed, did not satisfy the GAF requirements for the warranty coverage I was promised, and the GAF inspection revealed additional problems. I communicated with GAF about this on several occasions. After about 4 months (on 4-15-13), additional work was done to bring the installation into compliance with GAF's requirements, and the warranty was issued. Given my overall experience, I will resolve the remaining problems myself.

There was a leak in the roof. After the consultation and the materials were ordered, it came in worng. There was a very small difference and we wouldn't have even noticed. It was sent back because it was not what we asked for. The work was done on time and communication was excellent. After completion, everything was cleaned up and you wouldn't even know they were here. NO shingle pieces or nails anywhere! Everything was caulked like it should be and it looks great. They were extremely professional and the work ethic is outstanding! I need some more work done and would not even think of calling anybldy else.
