Two Men And A Truck

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK: after Speaking with Emily Sham, the Sales and Marketing MGR, and with her emailing me and leaving voicemails, I have a better appreciation of what happened and how things could have been done differently on both side. This is a Family run business and I should have spoke to her after my initial conversation with a different employee there. I would definitely give them another chance at my business. I’ve always said, it isn’t the problem or issue, it’s how you handle the problem or issue. Emily has handled it to my delight and 2 of her guys are coming out this afternoon to assist with moving the bed.

The Receptionist at the Gulfport Office basically called me a LIAR. So the move from my place in Ocean Springs to my new house in Biloxi went fine. The guys were nice and helpful. I even treated them to lunch at HARTZ buffet. And I tipped them well. The had an issue hooking my couch up and putting back together. Some pets of the couch don’t work well still. I have a plug-in platform bed that Rooms to go installed 4 years ago. IT HAS ELECTRONICS. These operate the vibration and Zero gravity features. Didn’t realize these 2 issues until the next day. The bed is heavy so I need help to move it in order to see what the issue is. I CALLED THEIR OFFICE. This lady called me back after speaking with the lead mover. She said firstly that THEY let customers know ahead of time they don’t deal with electronics. MANY people that can afford their service have either of the 2 pieces of furniture I have, if not both. After I tried to explain that the power cord for the bed was on the ground near the bed, I told the lead guy that I will put it my truck. When they put the bed together no one asked me for the cord. The receptionist said there was NO POWER to the bed. I said YES THERE WAS. Used it within last week. She persisted that I was either lying or delusional as she was banking on the mover who was working in the heat and working all morning and into the evening as they were on their way to yet another job. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK HAVE NOT REACHED OUT TO ME IN ANY FASHION. IT HAS BEEN 5-6 days now. I asked if they could come out and fix what they broke basically. I even paid the extra insurance. Not sure what that covered but I WILL POST THIS REVIEW ON LOCAL SOCIAL MEDIA. It’s sad because the owner, Mike, came out and he seemed nice and helpful. Maybe she is a relative she feels she can act anyway she wants.

For those of you in the market to hire a moving company to help you relocate… buckle up. My wife and I just hired TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, the Gulfport location, to help us move. My opinion of this organization is mixed. I offer it now to those of you looking to decide on one or the other. I can’t speak highly enough of the three men assigned to pack a truck with my family’s belongings. They were professional, efficient, and most of all, concerned with making the overall customer experience the best that it could be. Standing ovation to these three men!!! That said, the booking/office/administration staff overseeing the Gulfport location lacks something with which to be desired. The initial call was made to get a “rough estimate” of what it would cost to procure the services. We wanted to know if the juice was worth the squeeze. During the initial call, an “estimate” of what was in our house was offered for an “estimate” on costs associated with the service. When the men arrived to begin moving, they were told to only move the items that were given in the initial estimate. When we called the company to ask why our contents wouldn’t fit on the truck that they sent, I was told that I could have another truck and more movers for an additional cost. Now, I called and spoke to the woman who originally booked the service and her manager. These two women were only preoccupied with explaining that we should’ve given them a better “estimate” of what was to be moved. As if an “estimate” (defined as: an approximate calculation or judgment of the value, number, quantity, or extent of something) was a final inventory. When I attempted to answer the questions asked of me, by the manager, she interrupted me with “I will have my men remove everything from that truck right now.” Once she finished her explanation as to how and why she was right, she had the audacity to ask me if I wanted the additional truck and movers… for an additional fee, of course. The company was paid just shy of $2,000 and I still have, at least, a 16’ moving truck of items to move from my family home. This company is in the business of moving people. It’s all they do. Ever. A better explanation as to what is a necessary item count (down to the individual box) in the initial “estimate” or, God forbid, an “I’m sorry that we weren’t clear in our first conversation”, would have been enough for me to spend more money and get another truck. However, this company cares about making sure they are right, above all else, and couldn’t care less about the overall customer experience… to the extent of blatantly disrespecting the customer. If you’re still reading, and care about where your thousands of dollars are spent, I unequivocally do NOT recommend this company. Your dollars are better spent anywhere but here.

I hired Two Men and a Truck in June to move me from my 4 bedroom home to a 1 bedroom apartment. As you can imagine I had way too much furniture. To solve this issue the moving company took a lot of it to a furniture consignment store, some to a climate controlled warehouse and eventually the remainder went to my new apartment. The move took 8 hours. Fast forward 6 months and I moved again. I hired the same company. This time I only moved the items in my apartment one street over. The move again took 8 hours. You have to ask yourself why? If it was one street over and a 1/3 of the furniture why the same amount of time. Well no one can answer that for me. They are also not willing to stand by the fee quoted of 4 hours. I reluctantly paid the bill but continued to discuss with the franchise owners. I was accused of laughing at the workers, having more than I said I did, etc etc you name it they lied about it. I took my concerns to corporate. After speaking to the franchise owners on my behave the franchise owners still refused to budge on price. I had swallowed it and moved on because what else could I do until I woke up two days ago to find that the owner of the franchise went to google and rated my business a 1 Star with no explanation. Well this was an obvious revenge tactic. I am speaking out to warn people to NOT use the Gulfport location of Two Men and a Truck. They can not get away with treating customers this way.
