Compton's Appliance

The installation went very well, the crew arrived on time.  Took care while working inside the house, especially when removing the old furnace & coils from a tight fit in the HVAC closet.  They didn't seem to mind me watching over the shoulder and asking a few questions.  Disposed of the old units and the house was once again cold in a few hours. 

The only problem I have had w/the system was six months later when the weather became colder and I couldn't get the furnace to work.  I called [just after 5 PM] and wasn't able to get a hold of a technician until the next day.  We set up a time to meet and he was a few minutes early.  The technician was very helpful and found the problem quickly, the plastic tube for the vacuum switch had a twist that prevented the furnace from kicking on and producing heat.  He explained what had happened and fixed it.  He also told me how to call in case of future after hours problems.

The whole team was very professional and I would recommend them to others!  My wife & I are very satisfied w/the services provided.

 The  repair person came out, said he made all the repairs (took him an hour and 40 minutes) and 30 minutes later the air conditioning quit.  We called, and he was back in about an hour.  I got suspicious and went into the attic to see what had been repaired and was astonhished to see that the fan motor wasn't repaired, the mother board had two wires not connected that had been previoulsly connected and a transformer mounted to the unit with one screw that originally had two.  Very poor workmanship.  I have a call into them and have stopped payment on the check.  That's all for now.  

Compton's was recommened to me by a good friend. I set up an appointment for their sales manager to come out to give me an estimate. He did a walk through of the house to evaluate what needed to be replaced and asked me if I thought the existing system needed to be increased. I told him I would be interested if he did a "heat gain/ heat loss" load test that would support the need to increase the capacity of the unit. When he sent me his estimate I was told that the existing HVAC system was undersized. During the first cooling season, the house always felt "sticky" as soon as the air handler turned off. After several attempts by Compton of masking the problem I contacted a Mechanical Engineer to have an independent evaluation and load test. The engineer's results indicated that the system is well oversized. I presented this information to Compton's and they are not returning calls anymore.
