My name is Ryan Hall and I am a certified nursery professional. I have been working in the Landscape design industry for over 15 years. As professional landscaping leaders, we provide services for both commercial and residential clients. When you love what you do it really shows ... and we love landscaping. Our company was founded on the belief that hard work, quality employees and services, premium materials, and working closely with clients is the only way to grow. We know what it is like to close your eyes and envision a landscaping design that will reflect your personal taste. We take great pride in our work ethic. Very knowledable and provided a very good solution. They were punctual and did an excellent cleanup of area. Solution has removed a great deal of water from back yard soil.

"(deleted member name), I'm not sure you have listed this review on the wrong profile or what's going on but we have not spoken nor have I done work for you since the last review you wrote on April 5,2012. You stated on it that work was completed April 1st and upon looking at my files that is correct you also wrote all a's and that you would hire again however, we installed a French drain, built a patio(deck) and did some minor landscaping and have not returned and assumed you were pleased as you have not contacted us since however you have totally puzzled me with this review by saying work was completed march 15,2012 changing the grading and saying you would not hire again not to mention you changed work that was done we did not install pavers, did not do heavy landscaping as I stated above we installed French drain, built deck, and did very minor landscaping. I'm not positive as to what your referring to but if there was a problem or issue in my opinion the professional thing to do would be to address this which a phone call. Sorry for any misunderstanding."

Mr. Hall responded quickly to my request. He found a simple and cheaper solution to my drainage problem in my back yard. He and two workers showed up on time and put in a drain in about four hours. His design has greatly reduced water during a very wet season. The crew did a good job of ground leveling and cleanup after project completion.

It went very well. All limbs and debris from the recent hail storm were removed and all flower beds were ready for mulching. My husband and I plan to possibly use him for some other jobs in the future on some rental properties that we own.

He did not install the total number of beds contracted. The beds he put in were of poor quality. Within a few days the fence was falling down. Fence posts were put down in an superficial manner. Here is a excerpt from an email he sent regarding the project. "I
apologize for your unhappiness of the project. You and your husband have been a pleasure" Unfortunately the work was so poor and his attempt to fix it so meager, that we just gave up on him.

"It takes a special kind of person to lie on a review to make a person and their company look bad so this response will not take very long. As for the number of beds made, your wife suggested that I not put in the others because of the room it would take up and you were concerned if she could keep all those beds up. So at the project end I deducted Two hundred and fifty dollars form the total for beds and dirt not used. As for the beds I put in, they were beyond your liking when I was there working and when I was finished. It was not until the final payment was made that any complaints were made. The excerpt from my email is from a long email I sent in response to you and your wife's concerns. What you wrote is about 6 words of about 150. I tried to help with your concerns and was going to come out of my own pocket to satisfy both of your but I know some people cannot be satisfied. So I agree with not working with you in the future because I would not travel that road twice. You also were given my consultation on fixing your drainage problem. I designed it and implemented the start of that project but was never paid for any of that and you had a friend of the family proceed with the project I designed. So in my opinion I believe we are even on your money and time concerns."

I actually requested services from a total of three companies, Ryan responded immediately. The next day he went by my home to take a look. He e-mailed a sketch of his idea in less than five days (he worked on it while out of town with family over the weekend). We paid him a deposit and the next day when I came home from work, the jasmine and shrubs had vanished! A couple of days later (allowing time for the weed kill to work and adding humus) he brought pictures from the nursery for me to see the plants he was going to install. The next day my bed was completed! From initial contact to finish, the whole process took about two weeks.I am well pleased! Ryan is friendly and very knowledgable about plants and landscaping. I can tell it's his passion and he takes great pride in his work. I joined Angie's List to find a good lanscaper and I did! We plan to use him for maintance work too.

Mr. Hall was the first to respond to my inquiry. He is a professional and very creative when it comes to landscape design and plant selection. He required a deposit up front which made me nervous. However, he returned the next day and finished the project to perfection the following day as promised. I sincerely feel his pricing was fair considering the job quality, timeliness, plant selection and expertise. Again, if you want to hire a professional, look no further that Serene Scapes. Of course the excitement that I was experiencing quickly diminished once I realized this was going to be a hurried up job! They did not bring all the plantes we had discussed putting in the beds he had to go rent a tiller, and take it back before noon, so the tilling work to me was done very hastily! And not vet good. They didn't bring the appropriate amount of soils, so they purchase some bags, and just MADE DO WITH WHAT THEY HAD! The soil in the flowerbeds, they did not plant, bearly had the surface scratched! I dug my guts out to plant the plants in Rhodes flower beds. I could see they were tilling up the grass and leaving it in the mix and I asked about it, which I was told the stuff he was sprinkling in the soil would get rid of the grass- but it did not!!! The straw that was pit in the front flower beds was so thinly laid that I have a BEAUTIFUL CROP OF GRASS IN THE FLOWERBEDS'!!!!!!!!! So, now I have got to rework theses flowerbeds and get the grasss out of them! The flowers are pretty,but the grass takes away from the joy of having them being done by" professionals" who left me holding the grass bag! I know there could have been a better way to do this! Their mind was on leaving before they even got started, coming here with have the supplies a lll theses things were a disappointment to me.

"I would like to respond by first saying that I am sorry you were not happy with the services from my company. Second I would like to respond to the comments. My partner and I have over thirty years of landscape experience combined. We both are certified nursery professionals with the State of MS. The reason we work fast is the fact we have been doing this so long and we work very well with each other knowing what needs to be done. I came to your residence on several occasions to assure that what we planned to do was exactly what you wanted. You changed the plants that I had suggested, which is no problem at all, and I was doing all I could to make sure you would be happy with everything that I installed. I explained that we use a chemical (grass pre-emergant) in the soil when we till to help with weeds. I did explain that weeds are always a problem in landscape beds and that landscaped beds always need maintenance to keep weed free. I would of been more than happy to come back to your residence with no cost to you and spray and treat the weed problem so you would be happy with the work. All of the plants were not with us because I explained that the nursery I usually purchase from did not have them in stock. I did explain that I would find the exact plants you wanted and would bring them within the next day and install them. I never expected any additional payment until the plants were installed and the job was completely done with your satisfaction. When I left your residence that day you told me that you were happy with all of the work and that you thought it looked great. I work mainly on word of mouth, I do not advertise anywhere but on Angie's List. I stand up to all the work that I do and I have never had a problem making a coustomer of mine happy by doing whatever extra I needed to do . I never heard from you after completion of the job and I believed that you were very happy with the work and needed no other services. Again, I pride myself on professionalism and strive to make every coustomer happy with my work. I hope all works out with your new landscaping and hope no hard feelings are held due to miss-communication. Thank you"

He was always very professional and showed up he said he would. The work was well done, they cleaned up from the job and I'm very pleased with the results. I will be doing more actual lanscaping next year and hope he is available.

Everything was brought in (plants, dirt, rocks, etc) and completed in just one day! Ryan was here early and completed all the work just as he said he would. I would definitely hire his company again.

Overall, we called Ryan the end of September, 2011. He called that night and visited our property about 3 days later, giving us an estimate. We had to wait on some funds and called him back to do the work Mon., Nov. 14. We set it up for the following Friday, Nov. 18. He was here before the appointed time, got right to work, and was gone by 11:00 am. He and his partner hauled it all off.
