Pest Control
After going back and forth with NOVA regarding the extent of the damage to my home and which areas needed to replaced / repaired, the repairs were made to my satisfaction - for a while...
Within a couple of months, the 2 x 8 treated wooden board which supports the right side of my garage and is attached to my garage door began to warp away from the brick on the outside of my garage door opening. Within a couple more months the 2x8 had separated 3/4" to 1" along the entire 7 foot length of the garage door opening. (Note to contractors: lumber always cups/warps toward the outside of the tree it was sawn from and NOT with the direction of the growth rings). When NOVA called this year to schedule my annual termite/pest inspection I asked them to come back and fix the warped 2x8. When they sent the sub-contractor out to look at this - he said it could be fixed with caulk! Seriously? This guy wanted me to believe that you can cover a 3/4" - 1" x 7 foot gap with caulk?? I said NO WAY!! you need to stand behind your work and fix this as it's letting rain and who knows what else get into the wall and this is just going to rot the material that I just had replaced. Not to mention that these boards are supporting my garage door!! I called NOVA again and told them that caulk would not fix the problem and asked them to repair/replace the 2x8. NOVA agreed to send the sub-contractor back out to repair the 2x8, and he made some attempt by driving 4 large framing nails into the face of the 2x8 which closed the gap from 3/4"-1" to 3/8" - 1/2" (see pictures). However, no attempt was made to repaint or repair the exterior caulk line (see pictures). NOVA called recently to schedule my annual inspection and I let them know that the repairs had not been completed. The NOVA office told me that the sub-contractor had confirmed that he had completed the repairs. What? Not hardly! When I tell them that the sub-contractor had made an attempt to repair the 2x8, The NOVA office tells me that the sub-contractor didn't complete the job because it rained. And that he will return to finish the job - this was Tuesday, July 31. Then the NOVA office tells me that I can call the sub-contractor myself! Since when does your customer schedule your sub-contractors NOVA? NOVA continues to put me off and recently told me that they are not responsible for "natural occurences" (read the board warping) and feels that they are not obligated to stand behind their work. As of 08/16/2012, I am still waiting for this repair to be completed. My overall experience with NOVA PEST CONTROL has been completely negative. They are not professional, competent in their line of work, do not keep appointments, and will not stand behind their warranty/work. I also have to question the efficacy of their termite treatment products and application methods. HOMEOWNER BEWARE!!!

Pest Control
I just recommended them to my son because he was having termite problems. I have used two other pest control companies years ago and I don't recommend them because the termites came back. NOVA PEST CONTROL INC guarantees their work. They call every year. They are very through. I think it is a father and son; more of a family operation. They were very reasonable when they came out several years ago to actually treat for the termites that we had. When I contacted some of the larger pest control companies, they were thousands of dollars. Most people can't afford thousands of dollars right off the bat. Like I said, Nova was reasonable, I want to say it was $500. They went around the house and checked every room, every closet, everything to make sure that there wasn't anything. Every year they come and they double to make sure the termites haven't come back and that everything is working. They also did the sheds in the back to make sure there wasn't a problem back there. I am very pleased with this company. They come right out when you need them.
