This was a job that started out well but went badly after I hired them to do some upgrades and they asked for the money upfront, which I gave them because I had no reason not to trust them. But, as I stated above, they never came back after I paid them upfront. I took them to Small Claims Court and they refused to pay the judgement.
Description of Work: I hired Jason Briggs as my contractor to do major repair work on my home after it was damaged by Hurricane Katrina. He completed roofing and drywall repairs, and those were paid for and then I asked him to do a list of general upgrades on my home. He asked for the money for the upgrades upfront and I trusted him because of the other work and gave it to him. He never returned, and when I tried repeatedly to call him for over a year and left voice mails the calls were never returned. I took him to Small Claims Court in Harrison County and was awarded almost the entire judgement I asked for, and he never paid the judgement. When I filed a garnishment against his savings account, he had cleaned out his bank account except for a few dollars and that's all I received. He lied under oath about the phone calls, saying his phone had not been dependable for over a year and he hadn't received them. When I asked about receipts for things he supposedly bought, he said he didn't have them anymore because his bathroom had flooded and he lost all of his files. He works with his father, Barry Briggs, who does the electrical work for his jobs. BEWARE!!! These guys come across as very nice and friendly and they do have some good references out there from right after Hurricane Katrina which is why I waited for 2+ years on them. He could have changed his business name and phone number by now. He uses both Biloxi and Ocean Springs addresses.
