With less than 11 weeks from our wedding one of our
parents announces they won't attend at our planned site because they are too
terrified of heights. With the time frame in mind and both of us working as
executives at our jobs, we still choose to change all wedding plans and move
the wedding to a location where all parents will attend.
As the bride the planning of the wedding was my gift to the groom because I
have been married before and he admits at this point that he actually wanted a
large wedding than what we had originally planned so I go into psycho-bride
mode and use my tech skills to search high and low for the PERFECT location and
find Daniel Boone's The Old Peace Chapel in Defiance, Missouri. This was our
first step. When we met with the coordinator, she had albums of area
photographers available for review. The album from After Four was the most
creative and stunning. They weren't the cookie cutter wedding photos EVERYONE
has. I am an amateur photographer and I truly valued the sharpness of the
photos, the use of different lenses, unique poses and use of items special to
the couple, lighting and his obvious familiarity of shooting in the chapel
which is a historical site, quite small and probably quite difficult to
navigate to ensure securing all the most desired photographs of the ceremony.
We called After Four immediately after meeting with the coordinator and a
meeting was arranged at our earliest convenience. Thankfully, Brian, owner and
photographer, was available for our date and time. During our first phone call
we discussed why the circumstances of moving our wedding and he immediately
offered the names of other service providers we would require for the wedding
so I could proceed with planning even before we met. Really wonderful referrals.
Each referral was of equal quality as After Four and just as accommodating.
When we met Brian and his wife, Amy, they spent almost the entire afternoon
with us letting us ask any question, reviewing work around the studio, albums,
and various types of photographs in settings across the Saint Louis
metropolitan. They were open books so to speak. We knew they were the right
choice. Our personalities clicked and they were amiable to working with my
parents who were divorced and not on friendly terms and the wedding was going
to be the first time our families met so there was going to be lots of tension
to the day. We were completely confident and comfortable with Brian's laid back
personality to handle any situation, but to also coordinate the families so we,
as a couple, also obtained the special forever wedding memories we desired.
In between our meeting and the day of the wedding, Brian, Amy and I stayed in
touch and confirmed a list of absolute must-take photographs. Otherwise, I
wanted Brian to "capture" the day.
On our wedding day, Brian arrived practically the same time we did or maybe
even earlier. Even though we interacted briefly before the ceremony, he not
only executed our plan photographs perfectly he captured spontaneous moments we
never dreamed or even knew he was around! He wasn?t unobtrusive ? he?s like
invisible and then when you sit down with him to go over photographs it?s truly
SHOCKING what he captured. THOUSANDS of moments from the day you didn?t see
yourself or you?d already forgotten ? special moments you?ll never get back,
captured forever now. To say what he gave us is priceless is an understatement.
Brian gave us our dream photos and photos beyond our wildest imaginations.
His wife, Amy, and I worked on our photo album for over
a year because of various reasons and I wanted the album to begin and end in a
certain way. She made that happen WITH me? we altered pictures using various
software to make each photo just right and it?s the perfect memorial to Brian?s
workmanship. There?s no amount of money and no way to thank this pair for what
they gave us ? we developed a bond and we adore them because of their
commitment to their customers and to their craft.
