He showed exactly when he said he would, we have multiple projects and he walked through them explaining what he could and could not do. He then got to work on the door and glass projects. He fixed the door hang very well, and worked with the door till it closed automatically with no real issues. He then removed the glass and measured for all the windows he was repairing. He took extra time to make sure I understood what he thought about multiple projects. I am planning to use him again!

GREAT!
in July 2011 I had a new roof put on, (from tornado damage) I hired a local roofing company which I've used before but this time the company had to hire outside roofers due to all the work they had from the tornado, as the roofers started dropping the new bundles of shingles onto my roof the weight of the bundles caused my ceilings to split at the sheetrock seams.
I went to a local home improvement store which suggested I put up two 12' length's of LVL. It was all I could do to unload one at a time off my trailer, I'm told LVL will carry weight similar to a steel beam.
I saw Bill's advertisement on Angie's list so I spoke to a real estate agent I knew to ask if she knew of him. She not only knew of him but use's him for repairs she may need.
Bill came out and looked at the job, gave me a quote and told me when he could start the job if I elected to use him.
What Bill did was much more than the instructions I got from the home improvement store as how to install the LVL. What a PROFESSIONAL JOB!! Bill went through one wall adding studs so the LVL sat on the foundation. The other wall I had him extend out so I could add another cabinet in the kitchen. I didn't realize (Bill did) that by doing that it would put the other side of the LVL onto that foundation.
Still have to paint but I'm in the process of painting all the ceilings and walls. Without paint Bill's work looks as though it's always been there.
A drain pipe came off the drain in my master bath. Bill went under the house and found the problem,  the bathroom sinks, washer and kitchen connect at that point. Bill lengthen one pipe to solve that problem, of course there was a little more to it, it wasn't all that simple.
I'd recommend calling Bill, his work is professional you'll be as pleased as I am. If Bill can't do the job he can suggest who can.

I found Bill to be very meticulous in his work.  He was there when he said would be.  The project was completed on time and within the estimate, which I thought was very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of his work.  I found Bill to be courteous and considerate.  Overall I would have to say that Bill does a truly professional job. I intend to hire him in the future and have recommended him to my friends.

I contacted Bill to get a second opinion/estimate on fixing a leaking tub that had been leaking water from the drain through the ceiling below into the entry hall of the house.    I already had a professional plumber that I respected tell me the only way to fix the problem was to tear into the entry hall ceiling to find where it was leaking from.  The plumber had no idea as far as cost, but did mention it would probably be an "expensive fix".  Bill came by the day I called him and was able to fix the leak by replacing the drain pipe underneath without having to tear into my ceiling or wall.  All repairs were completed through the existing plumbing access located in our master closet.  Bill fixed our storm door the day of the initial estimate for the plumbing leak and also fixed a  door handle.
Bill is very easy to work with,  has excellent communication, and seems to think of ways to save you money.  I initially obtained his contact information from Service Magic where his reviews are all excellent.  From my experience he is a very skilled handyman that will be getting future business from us!

Bill quoted $500 to replace some window surrounds and to fill in the gaps around a dishwasher.  He said $500 for the windows, and I'll throw in the dishwasher job for free.  His price seemed a little high, but we'd been told his work was good, and he threw in the dishwasher, so we gave the go-ahead.  The windows were done professionally and in a timely fashion.  I'm a reasonable person, and knew Bill had to flex a bit on an outside job to have a few clear weather days.  The job was done, and the dishwasher still had large gaps and didn't look very good.   I had 2 other jobs that I had Bill quote, each of which he explained would be "no more than $200".  I asked him to do one of them, and finish the dishwasher project he hadn't completed.  He tried to tell me that he'd need an additional $25 to finish the dishwasher job that he had offered to do as part of the $500. I did not appreciate the idea that he was going to try to shake me down for additional money for a job he'd offered for free, but didn't dwell on this issue.  The job he began work on was to replace a section of rotten sub-floor and to replace the tile over that section.  All told, this was a 2 1/2' by 3' job.  Once the flooring was replaced, all Bill needed to do was to put down peel and stick 12 x 12 linoleum tiles.   Bill showed up for the job, and finished the sub-floor in a two day period.  He cut the sub-floor too small, which was a rookie mistake.  I should have required him to recut the piece, but he offered an alternative that he was confident would do the job equally as well.  He stuffed insulation around the gaps along the wall, then mixed up some levelling cement to fill the remainder of the gaps to make the entire piece flat.  It took a day to dry, and I was not able to meet him the next day, so I made arrangements for the door to be left unlocked.  He called me the next day and told me that the peel and stick tile I had would not peel off of the paper backer.  I asked what could be done.  He said YOU can get some linoleum glue and YOU can paste it down to the floor.  He then became pushy about getting a check for the full amount.  After a few calls and voicemails back and forth, in which he said that his feelings had gotten hurt since he didn't have a check in hand, I confirmed that I had bought the glue, had left it in the house, and that he could install it the next day, and I'd leave a check. I had additional work that I wanted Bill to do, and wanted the situation to remain amicable, though my wife and I were having some reservations about his business methods.  Bill confirmed that he'd do the work the next day, and I ensured that a neighbor could unlock the door for him in the morning.  When I arrived the next evening after work, I found a job completely untouched, and a missing check. I spoke to Bill today, he told me he was "done".  He had showed up to find no glue there (I confirmed it was in a Lowe's bag, along with a trowel that I bought him not 10 feet from the workspace).  He was irritated that the check was for the agreed upon $200, rather than the extra $25 he tried to shake out of me for the "free" dishwasher job he'd botched the first time around.  He seemed offended and with hurt feelings.  I've never dealt with a contractor who was so unprofessional, unwilling to stick with his quotes, and just ready to walk off a job. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR!

"The member had a difficult time showing up for our appointments. He did not unlock the door of his vacant house 3 out of 5 times. I called him each time I arrived and he suggested I try back in a couple hours. This was very frustrating. I described the pvc filler strips I would install. When I was finished the members wanted something else. I said a redo would be an additional charge. I was asked to repair the rotten floor in the corner of a small room. After replacing some wood I needed to use leveler since some plywood came up with the old vinyl tiles. This I did at no additional cost. The member's self-stick tiles were not useable, but I voluteered to glue them down if he provided the glue. If the glue was there I did not see it since they were in the middle of moving. If it was 10' away that was in another room as the job was in a small foyer/entry. This was the last straw & I left the floor ready for someone to install 6-8 vinyl tiles."

Overall, working with Bill was a horrible experience. He said he would pull out a mimosa tree that was too close to my house. He claimed he had done this many times by attaching a chain to his truck and pulling the tree out. This, he claimed would remove all roots, so I would be rid of said tree forever. Well, it didn't happen like that at all! While I was out shopping, Bill came to my home, unannounced, and when I got home I the tree was gone! He showed me the chain, and said he got all the roots. My brick patio was all in pieces, which Bill claimed was due to the roots. He said he did the best he could in filling in the hole left by the roots by sticking some rocks in there. Bill then promised to pick up the large tree stump (he left this on my 95 year old neighbor's front yard) and clean up the massive amount of dirt in my driveway. About a week later, I looked out the window, and there was my 95 year old neighbor trying to move the stump out of his yard!!! Yikes! I called Bill and asked him to remove the stump right away, as my neighbor is easily broken, and he said he would come after he went to Lowe's and had a haircut. I apologized to my neighbor and begged him not to try to remove the stump, as Bill would be there shortly to fix everything. Hmmm... Several hours later, Bill showed up with a chainsaw that wouldn't work. The chain kept falling off. I went outside to say hello and ask him to do another job for me (I am a retired school teacher) and he greeted me with "Boy I thought you were a crazy lady, making me come out here today. You never gave me a time limit." I don't particularly like being called a crazy lady, so I explained why I asked him to remove the stump as we are all seniors in my neighborhood and crack easily. Then he proceeded to tell me my house looked deserted, my street was like a slum and he calls his neighbors white trash to their faces. I told him I was offended and walked toward my front door. He started yelling at me that I was immature (if only!) and a chicken (oh please, we old ladies are not afraid of much anymore) and I was crazy, etc. Wow - such excitement! My neighbor, she is 94, almost, called the police because she could hear Bill yelling from inside her house! And her hearing is not too great! Anyway, to make a long story short, do not hire this man. He is drama, as my daughter says. To make matters even more unbearable, the tree Bill supposedly pulled up by the roots - on closer inspection, he simply cut it down. The entire root system is still there, and spouting many mimosa trees. He put rocks over the roots to cover his tracks, and ruined my brick patio to boot. The tree stump has not been removed, and my drive way is a mess. I am very proud of being a good Missourian, and sad that a fellow Midwesterner would treat a senior, or anyone for that matter, in such a disrespectful manner.

"I was called to remove a door and install a new slider unit. It looked wonderful when I left. When I finished Member asked me for a verbal estimate for several other jobs. I spent several hours visiting and was asked to remove a tree close to the house who's roots were heaving up her dry set brick sidewalk. They were set in black dirt! I was only to remove the tree limbs and stump. I also smoothed and set all the bricks back in place. I admit there was alot of work to be done on the sidewalk after the tree was removed. The stump was hauled to the end of the driveway, but still on her property, to be picked up later since it was raining & would be all week. Member said it would not be a problem till she had to mow the grass so I had several weeks. A week later she called me all upset. That the stump was in the way. It was saturday and even though I had plans I came out with my chainsaw. The saw went dull in a minute when it hit dirt on the stump. When Member came out of the house (this is the 'crazy' part) & saw me putting my saw away, he started 'yelling' because I'd upset his wife. Then he physically threatened me. I got in my truck & left."
