MILLER REAL ESTATE INC

I approached them about a property I was interested in renting.  I liked it and went ahead with a lease.  On the day prior to moving in they notified me that I could not move in and offered me a different property.  I went to look at it that day and all that was wrong with it they informed me would be fixed/cleaned prior to moving in.  That was a lie.  The place was filthy, old food was left in the cabinets, the toilets are stained, the carpets are so old that in some rooms there is a mixture of 4 different colors, the exterior of the house is filthy and gross, the refrigerator was nasty, the bathroom floors are more black than the white they are supposed to be, window blinds were broken, most interior light bulbs were burned out and no exterior bulbs worked at all, the dishwasher had standing water in it, the washer connection was inop and the list goes on and on.  I had to threaten legal action to get anything fixed in the house.  They have still not dealt with all of the issues and have no intentions of doing so.  I ended up having to put lightbulbs as they wouldn't even come out and do that!  They claim that because I have dogs that I must live in filth and therefore they cannot make certain repairs to the unit for that reason.  Please keep in mind that I have paid my security and pet deposits in full but now they want to change the lease and make me pay more to do maintenance that should have been done on the apartment my responsibility.  Everytime I need regular maintenacy done they complain and it often takes weeks to get anything done.  I will say though that they repair men they have sent out have been very professional, nice and helpful.
I would not recommend using Miller for a real estarte service.  Clearly they are in the business of taking advantage of the military and it's veterans by allowing their business partners to rent substandard housing that they don't make repairs in or maintain.  I know a former employee of the firm that has left and warned me about them, I should have listened.  I will also say that even prior to signing a lease with them some of their employees were rude and unprofessional, I should have listened to my gut then too.  Other employees have been wonderful and I am grateful for that.
In the end the owner of the property has agreed to let me out of the lease and I will be taking that option.  It is sad because it is a nice little area and the neighbors are great even though many of them have similar issues.  Further, the property itself isn't bad, it just needs updating and maintenance.  I have been in some of the other units and they are very similar condition to mine so clearly this is not a lone issue, this is how they do business with this owner.

We are renting with this company. The agent was professional, honest, and very kind!  She told us a lot about the area that we would be living in.  The grass was very long and right in front of us she called the landscapers and told them to put us on their list. I've never lived somewhere (and being military we have moved A LOT!) where someone actually came out and mowed as we were moving in.  She helped us out a lot as we were signing our lease and she was great with my 2 year old daughter!  I hope this company continues with great service!

Completely horrible experience with Miller Realty!
