We had some existing wood floors that needed refinishing and decided to add more wood floors to the house...It was a good sized job and we did a lot of research on who to hire. I met with Terry, the owner of the company, and he was extremely helpful. He knows a lot about wood, where to buy it, what is the best quality etc. Stain color was a huge issue to me as we wanted to compliment the wood cabinets in the kitchen..Terry narrowed the stain colors and applied samples in several places so I could see what it would look like in different lighting. He is just so thorough. We hired a crew to move all the necessary furniture and Terry arranged things so we could remain in the house during the renovation.
They but plastic over everything possible to limit the dust from sanding. They use a system that gets most the dust out of the house but even so you are going to need some clean up..Terry and his crew were swamped with work as the people they were doing a job for kept adding more work, so it was necessary to sort of fit us in..He had some wonderful workers and they were either on time or called to give us the daily schedule..The new wood installation went perfectly with no damage to existing floorboards , carpet, or tile...No scratches,no paint damage and no carpet damage..They taped everything off.
I just can't say enough about the outcome..We paid a bit more for a super durable top coat and it's paid off..Just beautiful floors. There were two small spots that I thought needed some touching up and Terry came right back after those cured a bit and re-sanded them and put on another top coat...
I'm very picky about things and we live in a very nice home..I couldn't be happier with the outcome of the job. I like it so much we're thinking of doing the bedrooms next...
I would advise staying out of the house if possible when they put the finish on as the fumes are a bit daunting..It was nice to be able to keep the cats confined in a bedroom and not have to kennel them...
